Since the application cycle is getting closer and closer, I wanted to get some confirmation/advice on my school list. Due to my MCAT, I'm primarily applying to DO (which I'm perfectly fine with as I just want to be a doctor) but if anyone knows of any MD schools that would be worth applying to, let me know. Here is my "application"

cGPA: 3.7 sGPA: 3.45 (AMCAS) 3.55 (AACOMAS) MCAT: 502
-Shadowing: 100 hours- 4 Pulmonary physicians, 1 cardiologist, 1 oncologist. 1 DO Neuro-intensivist

-Patient exposure: Medical assistant/Scribe for Pulmonologist and Ophthalmologist (2000+ and counting) Helped start and currently volunteer at free medical clinic in my community- approx. 30 hours and counting

-Volunteer/Community service: Medical missions trip for 2 weeks as Lab tech and scribe for physicians; Serve at my church on Saturdays for 3 hours for approx. 3 years. (50+ hours) Free medical clinic as MA

-Leadership: Served as VP and President for club on campus. Also served as outreach coordinator for same club. Also a part of leadership development group with my church.

-Research Experience: Co-2nd author publication in low impact journal. Approx 400 hours over 8 months.

Thanks for the help!

If you're applying to VCOM-Auburn, might as well throw an app in for ACOM too.

can't remember if you told us that you live in Washington State. If so add Washington State University.

I cannot recommend LUCOM. Replace with LMU

No I’m an Idaho resident. I will see if they are now taking applicants in the region.

Is it a really good school? I’m just not sure about the city of Dothan.
New-ish school, but I've heard only good things about them, and their inaugural class seemed to match decently for a new school. They really worked to establish their clinical sites across Alabama prior to even opening and they continue to vet and expand the list, so you don't have to worry about setting up core rotations for 3rd yr...something that apparently falls on the shoulders of students at some other DO schools. Dothan is kind of rural but has everything you'd need unless you're expecting LA-/NYC-level living. Plus you'll likely be studying most of the time anyway, so less distractions is a win in my book. From a small town though (smaller than Dothan) so my views may be somewhat skewed. But hey, the student who matched anesthesiology at Hopkins seemed to do just fine. 😉

And referencing something Goro alluded to, it's not a satellite campus.

@rong8 Thanks for the insight! I will definitely consider it. Would it be worth it to add a school like Morehouse? I'm not URM but my GPA and MCAT are competitive.

I don't know too much about Morehouse aside from it being a historically black institution, although non-black students have been accepted. If you feel you align with their mission (the underserved?) you could give it a try.
