No, with your app stick Texas. You are solid.

Skip Baylor and anything outside of Texas, and you'll be fine.
You should have some do schools on your list as well.

Texas resident here, I'd omit UTSW as well and also stick to IS schools. You may have some luck at certain mid/low tier OOS private schools, but why bother with so many great and cheap options in Texas lol

The odds of an OOS interview are quite small at OOS MD schools.
Last year only 259 TX applicants matriculated OOS. From what I have seen, these tend to be these who attended OOS colleges and/or were candidates for inducement scholarships.

Given how much the TX public schools value a strong gpa, OP should be fine with IS options.

So to clarify, DO schools don't have anti-TX bias? Can a TX applicant fare reasonably well at somewhere like PCOM?
My school sure doesn't have such a bias.
I've never heard of it at any other COM.

State schools aside, the only COMs that seem to have a regional bias are UNECOM and PacNW

PacNW doesn’t even need the bias...not even Washingtonians want to live in Yakima....

Note: Joking aside, PacNW seems like a great school from my tours/visits there. And it is only a couple hours to Seattle and Portland and only like an hour from Rainier. Not that bad of a place.
