Hi,

I have been admitted to BCOM and LMU DCOM.

I have two questions.

First, is it better to attend the LMU Knoxville campus that is brand new or the very rural campus that was opened 2007.

Second, if I really want to do surgery but also value time, should I choose BCOM, LMU DCOM, or just reapply for MD?

Thank you

Not sure for the first question, but for the second, DO NOT turn down an acceptance to reapply, you got in, congratulations, but their is no guarantee that you will get into an MD school next cycle.

Neither. I'd go to BCOM honestly.

Stats? You should prepare to go to one of these DO schools and also be prepared for the fact that surgery will be an uphill battle for you.

My parent live in upstate ny and I appreciate the ability to drive there and for them to drive down. Is it still worth to do BCOM or should I go with LMU- Knoxville or LMU-Harrogate(rural).

What does this mean?
Also, prob BCOM over LMU (since I hear they are having issue).

Go to BCOM, make the most of a pretty cool state (New Mexico); which in my opinion involves getting involved in outdoor recreation. Work hard, study hard, you can get Surgery from there.

I recommend the fly fishing in Farmington. San Juan river through there is amazing; like world class. People travel from all over the world to fish there.

I can't recommend LMU. They have devoted so much effort to start the second school that its hurting the parent.

I want to pursue a surgical residency but don’t want to spend too much time doing so(multiple gap years).

unless they're gluttons for punishment, I can't imagine driving from upstate NY to Knoxville on the regular (having done that drive myself).

It’s still closer than NM though. Also, driving is cheaper.

I’d go to bcom. El Paso is right there and you can just fly out from there.

bcom has mandatory research iirc which only helps when applying to anything ( especially surgery). I’m sure it’s nothing groundbreaking, but any research is light years ahead of most DO students, myself included.

They’ve opened up their own residency programs. You’ll have a better shot at a decent third year at bcom. Read up on n LMU here. Your third year will be crap at lmu.

Also just better town, better food, better weather (person specific).
