I'm trying to narrow down a good selection of school, and I would greatly appreciate any advice you might have (such as regionally biased schools I shouldnt try, reach schools, decent chance schools and safety schools if any)

Here are my stats, I am a re applicant:

-Texas resident

-MCAT 30R (10,10,10), from Aug 2009...thinking of retake for schools that prefer 2 year old maximum

-GPAc 3.2
🙁--> GPAs 3.2

My ECs are probably average, maybe slightly above:
ie 200+ hours Shadowing with good DO letter
100+ ER Volunteer hours
100+ other volunteer hours with leadership
EMT cert
etc

Low GPA is my biggest problem...it was below 3.0 last time I applied

Any help would be amazing, thanks

You mentioned regional bias but didn't state where you were from.

Have you attempted to calculate your AACOMAS sGPA? A 3.3 is a whole lot different than a 3.0. The MCAT score helps offset this though.

Edit: Also, what schools did you apply to last time, and did you receive any love?

Since you are Texas resident, TX is your best best.
PNW in Yakima takes 75% students from WWAMI states
Arizona has high local bias

MSAR and CIB would help

I have them, and they are helpful. But sometimes people have some insight that I may have overlooked. It's nice to have a forum discussion at times as a check on my personal research.

But thank you, if that was a real suggestion. I'm sure there are some people who don't know about those resources.

thank you, Ive updated for clarity. I am not sure on GPA since . So worst case is 3.0 and best case is 3.3

MSAR and CIB are really all you need. see where you are above average at for your mcat. that should give you some love.

No love here...2 invites for SMPs. "you are a good candidate but GPA too low"

Don't worry about re-taking the MCAT, unless you have your heart set on one of the schools that you mentioned. Instead, focus on one or two classes to improve your GPA, and keep doing your EC work. If you apply broadly, and early, you may be able to get in, but your best bet is probably to get your GPA up and apply next year.
