My MCAT isn't hot but I'm still going to apply and see what happens.
Need a second pair of eyes to look at my schools. Most of them may be long-shots or hopefuls because of my MCAT but I just want to know some of your opinions. Maybe I can take some out and save a few bucks? Or add any to see what happens?

Hi,

That is quite a exhaustive list, are you planning on applying to all of them? Your MCAT score will keep you back, there is no doubt about it. I'd prob shave Einstein, UCLA, and some of the UC's you have, since their pretty competitive. WVU is a longshot, unless you hace some super strong ties to WV, and same this with East Tenn. Loma Linda needs strong religious ties, so you need to check into that. I think BU may be tough. All in all though, the list is pretty good. I'd prob try to get the list down to like 20, since 40 won't increase your chances by any large amount. Your stats are solid for DO, I'd throw in a few schools to be safe. At least 7.

Thanks for your input!

And as far as DO schools go, do you know if a DO letter of rec is absolutely required? I don't have that, or an MD one. This may be a bit problematic?

There are a few, but I don't know of any off the top of my head. I'd check the websites of any DO schools that you are interested in and see if they require it. I don't think its an absolute must for your application though if you do choose to apply to DO schools.

Thanks so much! I definitely was not aware of FAU and Cooper. I believe Cooper has not been added to the AMCAS list yet? I read somewhere it will be on tomorrow!

Thanks for that DO excel file! What a great resource.
And yes, I can probably get some shadowing in over the summer.
