OK, I know this is wrong, but.....what if let's say hypothetically, I finished got my bachelor's degree then decided to go to dental school afterwards, took a couple of prereqs from a different local university and did bad in one of the classes. What if I was to not report and send my transcripts from that school and took the prereqs elsewhere? Is there a way for a dental school to find out if I just submitted my transcripts from my original school where I got my bs degree and transcripts from a entirely different university instead of the one where I got my D?

personally, I dont know the answer to the question. BUT I THINK the dental schools WONT find out that you havent sent all your post-secondary transcripts. YET it is not advisable that you hide marks from them, cuz if for any reason they DO find out, then you are definitely in hot water...i.e wont ever get admission at those schools again.

Did you transfer those credits to your university? If you did then your transcript should show that you received credit from another university and they would want them. If you didnt transfer those credits then I am not sure how they would find out but they may have resources we don't know about.

I am wondering this myself! I mucked it up real bad this year (freshman) so I'm wondering, what If I go to a different school next year and start completely over?

1) If I do submit my transcript from my old school to AADSAS, will they factor it into my GPA, even if I did not have the coursework transferred over to my new school? You know what I'm saying here? If I don't have school #1(old) transcript transferred to school #2(new) where I recieve my degree will they still factor school #1's(old) grades into my overall gpa even though I did not apply them to my degree at school #2(new)?
2) What if I just don't send in school#1 (old) transcript or admit to ever going there?

No there was no credit transfer involved.

By not turning in all your coursework (i.e. your entire academic history) you're taking a big gamble. I knew someone who did exactly that and they were dismissed from the school. And this is after having been accepted!!! Imagine how that must have hurt. They also told them they would be notifying other schools of their "selective" academic history so not only would they never be considered for admissions to their school again, they may have lost the chance to go to other schools as well. It seems though this second comment may have just been an exaggerated threat to scare them from doing it again because I believe he told me he was accepted elsewhere. Anyhow, I wouldn't gamble with that.

Example...I work in an FDA regulated environment as a chemist and every little thing I do has to be documented. If I have bad results I have to post them. I can't just pick and choose the data I want. It's called testing into compliance and it's ILLEGAL!!!

Tread lightly my friend. The other post talking about you being in hot water if they do find out is probably an understatement. Good luck.

I just found out the answer to my own question. The answer is no they don't have a way of knowing although like the above person mentioned if they somehow did find out I would most likely be dismissed from the school.

Trust me they do.. your Soc # has record of every school you attended.

I just talked to the admissions office of on of the schools, and they said they wouldn't have any way of knowing

If youve ever applied for financial aid or loans or anything i guarantee you theyd have a way of finding out. Also how would you explain the gap in your education. Its very risky. I would agree that alot of info is kept along with your Social security, although I dont know exactly what.

And your sources are what exactly? I mean come on I just talked to the admissions office to a couple of different schools and they said they wouldn't have any way of knowing, besides I didnt' apply for financial aid at the school I performed poorly at.

THEY WILL NOT FIND OUT unless you put it on your application and send the transcript to them. I had the same issue since I took a class at a CC but ended up dropping it b/c of time issues. Nevertheless, they ended up giving me an F b/c they claimed they didn't get the paperwork. Do you thing I sent that transcipt? NO!!!

I will be attending dental school this summer. Financial aid has nothing to do w/ this b/c they are two seperate entities w/n educational institutions. Do you call financial aid when you have a question about your grades? No.

I have been reading this forum for a while and some of the advice some people give is ridiculous.

Okay I just emailed all 55 US Dental Schools and got a bunch of responses back this morning. It is FRAUD not to report all coursework/transcripts. Now they did not say much about if they would ever find out, but they did say that IF they found out that yes they would indeed kick you out and alert other schools of your selective academic history.

Don't do it dude, it's fraud, be a man and own up to your past mistakes and do better this year. I don't know what year you are, but this was just my freshman year and I'm confidant if I get good grades from here on out that I can recover from this - that's what all the admissions officers said too. Right the boat and get on your way.

I'm debating on wheter i should do the same... i did poorly in the beast coast and started over fresh here in the left coast.....I had applied for financial aid to those schoools, but never finished with it and recieved money (checks) for them....
I was wondering if they could still track you through this?

I took an online course and 2/3 thru something work related came up and I could not finish. I tried to withdrawl but was told I was past the withdrawl point. I was given an F in the class. I reported it to dental schools. I applied to five, interviewed a four, accepted to two, waitlisted one and rejected one.

Called a Background check dude. Every time you enroll at a school, the first thing they ask for is your social #. Even if you didn't take a class, you enrolled to attend the school, they made a file on you. There are websites that advertise school background checks, there whole purpose is to check for degrees, etcc... Lets say schools don't do this, but if it were ever to come out that the OP lied on the application, he or she is toast. Where does one draw the line, if your willing to lie and cheat to get into school, your willing to lie, cheat and steal in life. Just no way to live if you ask me...

First off, I'm not a dude. Secondly, the background check is to make sure you actually have a degree at the school you claimed and I'm assuming a criminal background check. Also, the background is to make sure you attended all the schools and took the classes you placed on your application. I know a handful of people who did not send all their transcipts to their professional schools b/c of a variety of reasons. Some were unable to pay a balance at the school that was holding their transcript so they didn't send it if it wasn't neeeded. All are now in professional schools or working in good jobs.

I am a bit older and have been out of school for about 4 years. The class I took was not a pre-req or anything significant for dental school. That's why I was not stressed about droppping it. In my case, I was not letting the school's mistake ruin my GPA. What does morality have to do with this? It seems more like common sense.

Good luck with school!, this is not worth arguing about. Clearly my values are much different from yours. Will leave at that......

Ultimately its the OP decision whether or not to provide all the information to the schools.

thank you for the good luck. good luck to you too. i like your pic by the way

what about if someone didn't want to disclose their history from a canadian university and started fresh in the us, or vise versa? if your social # is different, they can't really track you can they? thanks.

haha, surely you situation can't be so desperate as to requiring you to leave the country!? lol. I say just take responsibility for our crappy performances and do better with the time we have left. Like I said, I don't know what year you are, but I'm confident a bad first year won't matter if I have 3 good years.
