Hi all,

I just finished summer classes and was going to send in an updated transcript for my applications this cycle but my school won't send it because I have a financial hold on my account that I can't afford to pay at the moment. I'm not sure what to do. I can pay it in 6 weeks but is that too long for schools to wait for summer transcript updates? And are transcript updates even required by all schools? Being a low socioeco student is the best y'all...

Are you already submitted and verified? I don’t believe any school requires a transcript update pre-interview? Even post interview they likely don’t require them. You should be fine I believe, except if there is one school on your list that does require it.

Being low SES definitely does not help...had to save for 18 months and I have already blown through that. Will you be able to afford all of the secondary fees (if you don’t have FAP) and travel for interviews?

I would think the only reason being if you are a reinvention applicant that needs to continue to show academic improvement.

Yes I'm submitted and verified. I wasn't sure if transcript updates were required or not so thank you for easing my mind on that.

I have FAP but I've had to pay all the secondary fees for Texas. Travel for interviews should be fine as well. I just graduated and started a new position last week so I'm on the come up.

Congratulations on graduating and the new job! Good luck in the application cycle. Glad we could help ease your mind.

For AMCAS, they are not. For TMDSAS, they are required.

  • You must send updated transcripts to TMDSAS at the end of each term that coursework is completed between the time of application and expected date of matriculation.
  • You can mail the transcript yourself as long as it remains in a sealed envelope from the registrar.

Well, rats. What are the implications if I'm not able to get a hold of the transcript until 6 weeks after the term has ended?

I did not find an explicit time limit on the website. Why not call the TMDSAS folks and explain your situatiion to get their input. I've found them to be very user friendly.

Schools want to be paid and this is what they do to ensure it. Try and make some money faster
