Hi Everyone!
I will be applying for the 20-21 cycle and was trying to prepare and compile a list of schools I wish to apply to - does anyone have an update list of schools that don't use OTCAS??
Congratulations to everyone currently hearing about their programs! I hope to be in your shoes one day 😉

Thank you!!

Unfortunately I am not aware if there is a list out there that don't use OTCAS. But what I did was use the AOTA website to see which schools were accredited and went to each school's website that I was interested in. Then I would compile a list of what they each required. Hopefully someone else has a list in one of these threads. 🙂

Thank you!! I am working on a list now so once I get the schools I intend to apply to, I may just continue and make a large master list (I love lists) and I'll post it here!

The only one I know for sure is not on OTCAS is Mercy College in NY (Dobbs Ferry, NY). But their MSOT program is very different from the others - they require their own set of prerequisites that are to be taken at their school only and application is submitted old school-style (hard copies snail mailed to them).

Perhaps make a list of states you'd consider moving to, then search AOTA for their list of accredited programs (which are sorted by state). Take that 2nd list and do a search on OTCAS for programs available on there by state to determine which ones you could apply to via OTCAS?

I know Radford University/ Radford University Carilion (same application) do not use otcas.

Idaho state university is on otcas but if you want to submit hardcopies of everything you can avoid using otcas. That is all I know of (but I imagine there are still a couple more).

The only two that I was considering applying to this past cycle that didn't use OTCAS were Columbia and UNC, there's definitely more but just from my personal experience that's what I know. Most of the schools I was interested in were on OTCAS though, which made things so much easier! I'm not sure why they don't just make every school use it (I'm sure there's some kind of reasoning, but OTCAS is great at streamlining things and organizing everything in one place)

I think MUSC and James Madison University are off of OTCAS!

Thank you!!

Would you happen to know how otcas calculates repeated courses?

If I remember correctly, they average them. But i’m not sure if that is still true. I believe that’s how it was done when I applied for the 2019 start cycle!
