One of the schools that I am accepted to is going to stop offering the regional boards by the time I graduate. Is there any other disadvantage other than traveling to a nearby school to take the exam? For those schools that offer the boards, do their students save much of a hassle when it comes to finding patients?

The variable is always the patient. It is stressful enough waiting for patients to show up when the school is right down the street (thats why you always secure backups if they are available). If the school is nearby (within 50 miles), I might not worry too much although I would definitely drive the patient to and from the site. I would be more concerned if the school was out-of-state because it would most certainly cost more $$$ and more potential for things to go wrong along the way. Of course, this is just my opinion and I never had to go outside my institution. I'm curious to hear about an experience from someone who has.

Another thing I liked about having the boards at my school is that I didn't feel like I was in someone else's kitchen and was familiar with the equipment. Of course, you do what you gotta do if you do not have the option of taking it at your school. Good luck to ya...
