Schools that don't participate in AAMC criminal background check

I was just wondering... I know some schools opt out of the CertPhi background check that AAMC sends out to accepted students.

Does anyone know why? Do they prefer to do it themselves?

Yes I know some schools opt out - but they usually do a separate one themselves or use a different program.

Plus, your criminal record will be checked again for residency and it will be public for your patients to look up - honestly, better to catch it early than not having a job and being in debt.
