I'm a current MS student getting a research degree and I have my BS in Biology. I'm from SC, and I'm applying to both of my in-state schools, but I want to apply to at least 3 other schools that are OOS.

Any reasonable OS schools that are fairly competitive for OOS applicants? Are there any in Florida, Georgia, or NC? Thanks!

I think you'll be fine applying out of state. As long as you have good stats and go well on your interview I think youll stand a good chance at any out of state school.

Good Luck

Try googling (or using the search bar when it comes back) this spreadsheet called "Lizzy M Stats". It's a really awesome spreadsheet.

The southern (and western) state schools tend to be the most restricted in terms of accepted OOS students. As such, if you don't have stellar stats, I don't think you'd have much shot at NC schools, and GA and FL are pretty restrictive too. VA is pretty open in terms of accepting OOS students in their state schools. Look into private schools... they have no preference one way or the other.

All the Texas schools! There are 8 of them, if you apply to all of them, you stand a pretty good chance.

Yea, based on your state of residence, I would only bother applying to Miami (who wants to live in Florida anyways? 👎), Emory, Morehouse (if you're a minority), Duke, Wake Forest, and mayyyybeeee UNC.

If you're a really strong applicant, you can consider expanding that list. But the average OOS application will be thrown out right away, solely based on the fact that you're an OOS applicant.
