Hey everyone!

I am a resident of New York State. It seems that most schools highly favor their residents (naturally). It seems like the best bet is to stick with schools in your state. Is it even worth applying out of state..

Are there any schools that have high out of state acceptance rates?

Colorado State University increased the number of accepted students from 25 to 50 with 1/2 from out of state this year. new mexico university only accepted 1 out of state so not worth applying there unless you live in NM

I actually contacted all the schools I'm applying to and asked their ratio. All of them told me they didn't look at residence bc they're private and don't care where you're based. But if you apply to state schools I'm sure they favor their residents.

I was accepted into Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. I know there were a bunch of people out of state that were accepted there.

Same here I'm going to a private school in August they don't look at that, but state schools care more about it.

somewhere on this message board is a response that someone posted with an EXCELLENT compilation of many state schools and their acceptance of out of state students. Good luck in finding it!

Thank you all for the information! 🙂

I found some public schools that accept 17-20% from out of state. I imagine if you want to get into them you would need great stats to even be considered over their residents. Could anyone give me a rough idea what kind of stats would put you in such a favorable position?
