I made a few mistakes in my undergrad career and I've had to retake 4 courses. 3 of them being preq's. I have recently been informed that most graduate schools won't even look at you if you've retaken more than 2 classes. Does anyone know which schools don't have a "repeat Rule"?

This information has completely derailed me, now I need to completely reevaluate which schools I'll apply to.

I've done a lot of research to decide which schools I wanted to apply to this coming cycle. I've probably researched around 25 different schools. The vast majority of these were in the Southeast, but I can only remember one school not allowing you to retake more than 2 courses, which was USC (California).

I'm sure there are many others that other forum members know of, but the vast majority allow you to retake as many as you want as long as the grade is higher. Some replace with the highest and some average the two.

This 👍

I retook four and got accepted to several places. I never found one school that limited the number of classes you could retake. Just make sure you get a good grade (B or better) when you retake the class.

Ok, thanks guys, Apparently NYIT has a 2 class retake rule. This was the only program my adviser was sure had this rule but she said most schools also follow this rule. Kinda scared the crap out of me. Thankfully this isn't the case.

Well, I am pretty confident almost all the schools in Michigan will look at you if you have retaken classes. But you might get a little 'ding' for it. I retook 2 classes before I even became fully committed to PT school...and then had to retake 3 more to even apply...I got accepted to UM-Flint and Andrews University.

I was told by UM - Flint, Andrews University, Grand Valley and CMU that they take your highest grade achieved..after 2 classes, you may get 'dinged' a little but you better make sure your retakes are 4.0s. In terms of Michigan schools, UM - Flint and Andrews University would be your best choice in terms of getting accepted...(however, Andrews is a private school and costs $90,000 for in-state tuition alone...probably why its kinda easy to get into for only having 32 seats..lol). Grand Valley and CMU are just really hard schools to get into...they focus more on grades that anything else.

UM - Flint focuses more on your experiences and what you have achieved more recently in terms of grades, exams, etc...So IF your interested in the Michigan area, UM - Flint would be your best option IMO.
