Sciatica/Bell's Palsy and OMM?

I'm a pre-med shadowing a physician in my Town's medical center. Unfortunately, this is a small community (1200) with no osteopathic physicians. Yesterday we saw a patient diagnosed with sciatica, and a patient experiencing the early signs of Bell's palsy. Could OMM have helped these individuals? Thanks for your input.

Sciatica is a broad term used to describe a "condition" and not an etiology. Therefore, it depends on the etiology to determine if treatment helps. Time usually heals sciatica regardless of treatment.
Bells palsy is typically viral in origin, but of course, there are some hard core DO's out there that use OMT to treat anything and everything.
