You don't sound dumb at all. I was about to start a thread asking the same question about food science, nutrition and psychobio.

My guess is Yes to science GPA, no to BCP

The classes will only count toward the department they are listed in (i.e. your psychobio class would count towards psychology not biology since it was in the psych department). However, if you have your school write a disclaimer to the dental schools saying that it counts as a biology class because of the significant bio it covers I think it is fine.

Hope that helps...

none of those classes count as BCP.

enviromental horticulture = non science

nutrition = other science

food science = maybe other science

why would environmental horticulture not count as science? its basically plant science

it might.... you can always just put it as other science and see if aadsas stops you...

I have never seen a environmental horticulture syllabus/class/or textbook, but to me it sounds like large scale gardening... In my experience true plant bio classes have "botany" or "plant bio" in the title, whereas almost any class with environment in the title is a pseudoscience.

Just my opinion. Hopefully the people at aadsas will be more open minded.

is oceanography/college algebra/calclus 1/physical anthropology/contemporary health/food and nutrition included in science GPA?

Hi, I was just wondering if Health Science courses will count towards the Science GPA? 😕

Post #5 has the official breakdown of how classes are categorized from ADEA. Here's the link: http://www.adea.org/dental_educatio...ocuments/2011 ADEA AADSAS Course Subjects.pdf

I'm not sure if oceanography would classify as a science. The rest, with the exception of anthropology, would be other science.

They would classify as other science.

What is "Health Technology" that they are referring to in 'other science". They list Dental hygiene as non science yet to me this seems like health tech...

What is health technology? Would an EMT class count as this and therefore be in "other science" or would it be listed in health science. I called AADSAS and they gave me two different answers. One said yes, the other said no to "other science."

AADSAS is super strict on what counts and doesn't count towards your science GPA. I had two class- virology and medical microbiology- that didn't go into my science GPA. For some reason, they were "public health" courses.

I called AADSAS and they said medical microbiology and general virology is under the BCP GPA. Maybe it was an error? Call and find out.

I have talked to them a few times. They said that since those classes have the prefix "hlth", they will not be included in my science gpa. Where did you take your medical virology and microbio?
