When people refer to their science GPA are they referring to their BPCM GPA, or BPC for DO schools respectively, or are they talking about a GPA calculated based off all science classes they've had?

If speaking about all the science classes they've had, thus a true science GPA, would that include such classes as

Geology

Physical Science or Biological Science for non-majors, i.e. courses that don't even have a biol, chem, or phys prefix.

Math?

Developemental math, i.e. math for people who weren't proficient enough to start on the college level?

Depends on the context, no?

In normal parlance, all science classes count. In assessing AMCAS apps, it would be BPCM. etc.

Yeah, I guess the typical premed doesn't take the classes that I mentioned. Science GPA is probably intended to mean "all science classes," but for most of them it probably is just the BPCM.

ok, thanks

BPCM = Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Math (including stats courses in other departments). Hence nothing outside of those subjects counts. For AMCAS purposes even engineering is not considered science.

I think most folks use the AMCAS formula (and AMCAS spreadsheet) to calculate GPA and hence are not referring to the way DO schools calculate it.

Is there an online version of the AMCAS spreadsheet I can use? I didn't know this existed and have made my own in Excel but would love something a little more official. Do you have to have started the AMCAS application yet? I'm not quite ready for that yet...

Sorry, I should have stated "unofficial." You can use google and find it. It was created by Johnny Eguizabal (there are multiple links in either threads on here).

I took classes that say chemistry/biological foundations of engineering, Calculus and Phys Foundations of Engineering, Energy II, Differential Equations, Math Foundations of Engineering, and Systems... Are these all a part of BCPM?

I think it's got to be offered by one of the departments; math, physics, chemistry, biology with the identifying course prefix, i.e. BIOL, CHEM, etc.

it doesnt say it in the course prefix (tdec 122) but it says in the description BIOL/CHEM foundations of engineering etc... so i dont know... if it counts
