This goes to all of you pretty much.

When you take DAT sceince part, do you guys solve problems in order by sections? bio/gcem/ocem

or you guys do the part firist that you're most confident with?

do you guys usually have time left at the end?

I'm worried about science section +_+

especailly gcem - cuz seems like there's lot of calculation problems

and that take some time

for example, when you solve for empirical formual

you have to do calculation with small decimal numbers.

how are you guys doing science section?

what are the tips for doing calculation problems where you have to find the values

do you round them up and solve them? ex) 38/82 -> 40/80?

yea calculations need to quick. You should def. round. Usually they will only be one answer that can be right.

I agree. You should always be able to round and do the calcs quickly.

Also, I would not skip sections because you waste a lot of time skipping through the questions.. Know how to budget your time based on practice tests.

Okay buddy just calm down. I had to write down all the questions you asked. Ok, lets take a look at them.

When you start on the science sections, it starts in the order of bio to gchem to ochem. While its good to start with things you are confident on like you do on the tests in class, I do not suggest starting with the confident section on the DAT. You have to actually hit "next" 40 times to get to the gchem section. Start with bio as the questions are factual/conceptual based with no calculations to worry about.

I did not have time at the end. This comes down to the type of test taker you are. If you know your stuff, and can get thru the calcs fast, I have read of threads where students said they had 15 minutes left.

There wasnt much calc. on my DAT, but it varies. For me to say there are none is wrong b/c different versions of the exam exist. However, what I can tell you is that the calc. are made easy, meaning if you know what you are doing, then its very simple and easy. Start practicing, and you will get them right.

Take care.

Do them in order, if you don't know, skip and mark it, then go back. Orgo took me 15 mins max
