Could someone please elaborate on the path to becoming and interventional PM&R doc. Do most programs prepare you for this type of practice? Does it require a pain fellowship? Thanks!

Some program will provide better training than others to become an Interventional Physiatrist. Some routes I've seen people take are:

1. Residency by itself.
2. Residency followed by courses such as the ones by ISIS.
3. Residency followed by on-the-job training.
3. Residency followed by an Interventional Spine fellowship.
4. Residency followed by an Anesthesia Pain fellowship.

I would also look at the two threads below:

1. PM&R and Pain Medicine Fellowships
