Hey guys,

I just took the DAT for the second time. My first scores were pretty bad (for a number of reasons), but I feel I rebounded well on the second.

Here are the scores (Scaled score, percentile)
First time:
PAT 17 (50.4)
QR 16 (50.9)
Reading 18 (38.1)
Bio 18 (61.9)
GC 19 (70.7)
OC 20 (79.2)
Science 19 (73.6)
AA 18 (60.7)

Second time:
PAT 22 (93.8)
QR 20 (95.1)
Reading 21 (88.9)
Bio 18 (72.1)
GC 22 (95.2)
OC 21 (89.7)
Science 20 (91.3)
AA 20 (93.4)

Going by the percentiles, I would be thrilled with my scores. But when I compare the scaled scores I go this time with the scores I got last time, i'm disappointed. For instance, in Bio, i went up nearly 11 percentile points but got the same score. Further, in Science, I went from 73.6 percentile to 91.3 percentile, all for one measly scaled point. Do dental schools have a way of differentiating these scores? Or did I just get unlucky somehow?

Thank you for any further clarification that you might be able to give.

Congratulations, big improvements
With regard to your comment about changing your TS by 1 point, a difference between 20TS and 19TS can be as many as 9 questions. That's 9% of the test, so 1 TS point can be quite huge (though it could be as small as 1 question).
I think your scores from your 2nd take are great, everything is above 20 except for bio, but that's what schools look for! 20 or above on QR, RC, PAT, TS and AA = Interview stats 😀

DS DONT get to see your percentiles only your scaled scores because percentiles vary from testing center to testing center. So you are solid all over, great job over all though.

its got nothing to do with testing centers... its all about the test versions

well you went from 18/19 to 20/20
your RC went from 18 to 21
your PAT went from 17 to 22
and your QR went from 16 to 20

those are some SICK improvements, I'd be very happy, most people don't improve by that much, or at least not the ones I've seen, good job 👍

One overall point can meet a huge deal... When did you take your test the first time and how long after was your second test? What did you do differently and what helped you improve for each section?

Thank you and best of luck to you.... good job and great improvement!
