Hey, I saw more than a marginal +1 or -1 in my score over each respective section. I have been trying to remember what I may have done wrong on test day that could yield me a score that was so much lower. I think it may be worth it for me to have my test hand-scored, but I honestly feel like I am wishing for a collapsed star. Has anyone had their test hand scored? I do recall, more than once, that my scantron was not read accurately by a review company. I feel stupid to ask questions like these, but there is nothing worse then preparing yourself all summer, accumulating acceptable test scores, and then finding out 2 months later that all that work was unsuccesful. I did everything to study and now I feel that if I could not achieve an acceptable score that it will definitely not happen! Thanks

I hate to sound negative, but according to the MCAT staff, they have never found a mistake in the scantron portion of the exam (ie in all the years of having students wanting their tests rescored, their scores were originally correct). I suppose anything is possible though. It's your money, and if it will make you feel a little better, then maybe it's worth it for you. Good luck.

I think statistically, AAMC said that there has never been a rescoring that resulted in a different score (not to say that there cant be a first).

I'm not sure what your score is, but it may not be as bad you think it is. (ie: some people on these forums are asking if they should retake with a frickin 30!?!?!?)

If your score is your only hinderance and everything (recs, extracurrics, gpa) is very strong, you may just want to go ahead an apply anyway to a broad range of schools. Otherwise, it may pay off to study for the April 05 exam and brush up other parts of your application.

Good luck..

I agree with the above posters. I don't think there has ever been a score change on the scantron parts (on the writing -- yes). Do you think you misbubbled somewhere and had a shift in your answers? Did you answer all the questions. Unfortunately, even if the answer to these questions is "yes" there is not much AAMC can do. I know it sucks, but I would study for next April.

What practice tests? Not all practice tests are that reflective of AAMC tests, so end up being poor predictors of performance. If all you did were proprietary review company tests, then I wouldn't be surprised if your scores were radically different.

Reread and it came out brusque. Sorry about your misfortune. Good luck in April! :luck:

I'm in the same boat. I feel so discouraged because I studied so hard and was doing fine on the AAMC Practices Tests. But on the real thing I scored 8 POINTS LOWER!! I scored what I got the first time I took a KAPLAN test without studying. I don't know how this could have happened. I've never been good at taking tests like ACT and ect. but I was so prepared.

I will take the MCAT again, but my concern is really what can I do for the next time, because it wasn't that I wasn't prepared as my AAMC practice tests showed. Does anyone have any advice for me?

All you can really do is prepare for a future sitting of the test. Things like this happen sometimes... maybe you misbubbled? I misbubbled this year TWICE but caught myself each time..... you could ahve also just been really nervous. In addition, maybe your form just didn't appear to what you were best at..... either way, keep your head up and good luck.

how did you feel about th test and your performance on it when you walked out?

There is probably a better chance that you misbubbled than that the machine misgraded your sheet. And misbubbling can't be fixed.

Yeah, I'm sorry man, but also it could just be that you didn't do as well. I was always tied to or within one point of my friend, and he got a 39 on the real deal, whereas I got a 31 only (both our averages were 31 on practice tests). Things just happen, who knows why....
