So this is my testing history:

Apr 13: UW-1 = 192
Apr 14: NBME-4 = 185
Apr 20: NBME-6 = 183
Apr 21: UW-2 = 209

I'm taking the test in a few days, and I really just want to pass. From what I've gathered from sdn, it seems like UW overestimates your score and NBME underestimates it by a few points, so is it a safe assumption to guess that I'll fall somewhere in betn my NBME and UW, so around 196? Of course this is all speculation, but just wondering if anyone has an opinion on it, thanks!

Anyone? I know they're not SDN worthy scores, but I'm just looking for help.

You are right on the borderline. Its really 50/50. I trust the NBME scores more. Study some more get around a 200 on an nbme and then if you are just interested in passing, take the exam.

Why are you giving the NBME so much money by buying their practice exams? (After shelling out so much money for Step 2CK and CS this year, I absolutely refused to give the NBME any more money and thus I never bothered with any Step 2 practice exams.)

Before I took Step 1, I used NBME 2 and found that it under-estimated my final score by one point. This was two weeks into studying and ten days before the test. I think you feel that your scores are all over the place because you are taking the tests FAR too close together to make their predictive ability meaningful. There is no way to make a huge jump in your score in just a week, and I fear that your precious study time is being consumed by worrying, and with practice exams that give little feedback other than a 'guestimate' score.

Push your test date if you can, but keep in mind that this examination is all about pattern recognition. If you spend more time doing questions from Qbank or WORLD and earnestly study the explanations for each question you get wrong (or for those you correctly guessed on), you'll pass. Keep in mind that the people who admitted you to medical school know your capabilities better than you do and you didn't get this far without having what it takes. Hang in there, and good luck!

I am generally against pushing the test date back but in your case I would push it back. You are kinda borderline and it would be a pitty to fail if you could have waited a week and passed.

I would recommend going through FA thoroughly one more time and doing as many questions as you can.

Good luck.
