Hi all-
I take step 1 this Thursday, and am a little concerned about the craziness of my practice scores. Took NBME 6 4 days ago and got 420 (205). 🙁 Took UW practice assessment 3 days ago, got 220. Took NBME 5 today and got 550 (234). Not that I'm complaining about an upward trend, but this is freaking me out a bit- I know my studying hasn't been that effective in the past 4 days. Any advice/ideas/suggestions about what's going on? Is is normal for scores to be this different on NBME 5 vs 6?

Also, have about 60% on random unused timed UW blocks- not sure if that helps any. Thanks much!

I don't actually know what to tell you...

I haven't taken form 6 yet, but I took Form 5 and UWorld Self assessment 1 on the same day and my Form 5 score was 8 points lower than the UWorld test. I also found that my percentages on the Uworld self assessment were right about where I'd been scoring on my UWorld qbank.

from what I've gotten from reading old post, Uworld tends to predict a bit high... that's what happened to me, but there are people who took it within a week of their exam and had it act as a reasonably good estimate of their score.

I guess you could increase your sample size and take more tests, but there's always the risk that your scores could be lower than the 234 and you don't want to hurt your confidence before thursday.

Maybe you were just better rested in between practice exams and your score improved. I think that you probably know enough to do well, you just have to go in there relaxed and well rested and then you will proabably end up with an even higher score. :O)
