How many pieces of scratch paper are you initially allowed to have. And I assume you can get more during the 15 minute break?

Also would it be permissable for me to only take a 10 minute break, come back and for the 5 minutes write down trigonometric formulas/identities on my new scratch paper to use in the math section?

I dont want to break any rules but i think this could be helpful and i remember reading someone here did the same

you can come back early if you want, however, do not make my mistake, because I took 18 mintues break and by the time I came back to the testing room, my RC section was already started and that was really distracting.

What is the best way to improve your PAT score? On top score I made a 15.

so i can come back before 15 minutes is up, sit at my station and write stuff on the scratch paper even if i do not click ok to start the RC section?

Yup, you can do that. I'd recommend it. Get new scratch paper at the break. Come back and you can write down math formulas and things like that down on paper.

hey, just some advice, be nice to the procter when asking for paper. i need A LOT of scratch paper to do the math section, not counting the chem section and reading section. i kept asking her nicely, so she would actually keep putting her head up and looking to see if i needed paper. i had heard stories where they would sit an hr waiting for paper and actually have to get up and ask her for paper, which can be very distracting. so be nice, it'll pay off (probably in everything in life too 🙂 )

good luck

Seriously? Only two sheets? Wow, they're stingy.

Nine more days!

I was given six pieces of paper. From previous posts on this topic, others have said they received six. You can always get more, but you have to sign out for it AND return the ones you have. It takes time. I'm still recommending you use six for the first 2 sections, get more paper at the break, and use those 6 for the remaining sections.

Six pieces is all I got. I traded them at the break though. I think six is standard.

something to consider (because i didn't and it bit me in the ass)

on the QR section, i started workin on a problem, and when i realized it was gonna take a little more calculation than I had expected, i decided to move on and come back to it. a few mins later, i filled up all the space on my 6 sheets, and when i went to turn them in, i forgot that i had started working on a problem and didn't finish. When I finally went back, it probably cost me a good 3-5 mins having to do the same work again, so make sure that you haven't written anything important down when you trade in your scrap sheets for new ones.

Do you get scratch paper for the PAT section as well? That would be great, especially for the whole-punching. Anyone taken the DAT know??

Yes, you can use the scrap papers on any or all sections of the DAT. They will give you a reasonable number of paper when you sign in for testing and when you run out of paper you can ask for more.

I had a bifold made of two sheets of 8.5 x 11, so I guess that is four pages. I know you may not belive me, but you really don't use as much paper as you think you will. The chem isn't that calculation intensive as it is "if you understand this, you should realize it is only one of the answers."

you get 6 pages. during the break, you can get 3 more in exchange for your 3 used scrath papers. at least thats how it was for me. they only allow 6 pages.

as for the coming back early, yes you may start early. as far as writing math formulas go, i really don't think you need to do that. you will not need formulas my friend.

though i have heard that people get different amounts of pages (one person in nyc only got a whiteboard), i can say that won't need much paper. i only switched it once during my break.
