Hey all

So, I'll be the first to own up to my screw ups: I made a lot of bad choices in undergrad. I studied business, and graduated with a 69% average, whilst getting 5-6 D's, and 2 F's, the rest mostly C's and B's, couple of A's.

Now - mark my words, this is not because I am "stupid". I am stupid in the sense that I did not place priority, or any form of importance on my studies. After graduating I worked for a year, and volunteered at a hospital for my own personal satisfaction.

This volunteering sparked my interest, and I have now returned to University to take courses. I've taken one year to set things right, taking some new courses, and upgrading a few D's while I'm at it. I have straight A's, and am continuing volunteering, as well as doing additional volunteering.

My Sci GPA is pretty much 0.0 as I am not in the program yet, but I am determined to maintain the high grades - I am busting my *** off like I've never before, and Im not slowing down.

This is good and all, but my previous record rules out any chance for US/Canadian Schools for sure, and I am even betting at SGU/Ross/Saba/AUC (Although I will apply). Worse, given the number of courses I've taken, significantly raising a GPA up now is next to impossible unless I redo courses and take more for another 4 years.

What do you guys think my chances are if I continue doing well for the length of my pre-req's? I called up MUA admissions and they said "Well why do you think you're special, many people are in that boat! Dont worry!" <---that seems FAR TOO forgiving imo, especially reading about people who have been accepted GPA's. At this point for me it has to be the power of my upward trend, and my sGPA, my undergrad cGPA cant be saved, other than a MAX 75%, and thats including retakes i think.

So any input would be appreciated...Is my past beyond repair? I'm thinking probably AUA, MUA, or SMU would be the schools I have a shot at

My thought would be for you to retake the pre-med requirements, and then look for either a grad program (M.S., a certificate) or a SMP that will help demonstrate your newfound commitment to your studies.

I wouldn't rule out the top 4 - as many people have advised, the other schools not being accredited worries me personally. I wouldn't want to invest money, time, my one dream/career/aspiration, just to be down the drain should I either not match or it not be accepted in a state I want to practice, etc.

Try to boost the GPA or set a new GPA via a Master's, and that will definitely help you.

(My advice may or may not be the best - does anyone echo my initial thoughts?)
