I submitted a month ago and should be verified any day now. I made one key mistake on my application and I am considering withdrawing my application. I did not put my internship as an activity. For some reason I did not think that you could include the things done in classes in the activities section (stupid now looking back as I could have added more experiences)... This was one of the strongest points of my app, over 750 hours... Most of my PS is about this activity and I have been prewriting secondaries and including it where I can. I have already been advised to send in an update in another thread as these hours were part of a master's that I am completing in the next month. Any further advice on what I should do?

Here is a brief of my stats and experiences..
  1. 29 y/o black male- non trad
  2. State of residence: Florida
  3. Undergrad 2007-2012 Business/Accounting: 3.2 GPA (very few science classes), sGPA 2016-2018 3.7-3.8 (A in all upper level sciences Orgo Physics Etc.)
  4. 2 year masters in psych 2016-2018: GPA 4.0
  5. 509 (129/126/125/129)
  6. ~750+ hours of clinical experience in hospital on psyche floor as part of master's degree <--- the activity in question
  7. ~70 hours research
  8. ~100 hours non-clinical volunteering
  9. Collegiate athlete throughout undergrad
  10. 50+ hrs shaddowing
  11. Worked throughout undergrad and into recent years full time to support family

If you already talk about this activity in your PS / secondaries, then why do they need to see it again in your activities?

You are over reacting by even suggesting that you would withdraw over something so small.
I echo this 100%
It’s time to step back, take a deep breath, and relax

This happened to me too. I completely forgot to include my master's project/thesis in my application last year too, though I mentioned it in my secondaries. Still got interviews & accepted to med school. Admissions people are smart & figure these things out. I wouldn't worry 🙂

I think it's a bigger problem if you wrote "psyche" instead of "psych" or "psychiatry"...

I am always amazed that high-achieving, highly-intelligent applicants seem to lose any rational reasoning when it comes to the neurosis of applying to medical school.

Can I suggest you send a VERY SHORT note to each and every school, whether they or not they accept updates as this is minor correction.

Dear members of the admission committee,

I would like to correct an important omitted activity AMCAS primary application. I have 750 hours internship in XXX where I did XXX, YYY, and ZZZ as part of CLASS AAA. Since this was part of a credit earning course, I neglected to add it as a separate experience but have been advised recently that it would be appropriate to do. Please forgive this oversight on my part and thank you for assistance in correcting this.

Sincerely

In their defense, it IS an anxiety-provoking process. Hence the need for that Xanax salt lick in your office.
