I'm a senior at college, and I'm thinking of scribing for my gap year. I was wondering when (and where/how) I should start applying if I want to start working at June.

If you work for ScribeAmerica, there will be around a 1-2 month classroom training period (depending on how fast your chief scribe wants you to finish). A lot of it is done from home where you log into a virtual classroom. Then you have a clinical training period where you are with a trainer for 5 shifts, and your responsibilities get higher and higher throughout the 5 days. On the 1st shift you’re just shadowing your trainer and maybe doing a couple charts. On the 5th shift you’re doing the work yourself and your trainer is evaluating you.

It can very a lot based on how fast your chief scribe wants it. But if you’re graduating in June, I’d say apply ASAP.

If you want to start scribing this June you should start this process now; there is a lot of competition for scribe jobs from pre-meds and the on-boarding process (including immunizations, drug testing, and training) spans 1-2 months
