SDN Anonymous. R u an addicted to SDN Non-Trad?

Hi, my name is SharkB8...and I'm an SDN-holic.

**pauses for 'Hi SharkB8'**

I decided it was the right time to legitimately work on this doctor thing in August/September.

I found this website two days ago. I've already spent more time on this site than Facebook and only slightly less time than I've spent studying.

Every thread I've so far read has some invaluable nugget that just makes me feel yummy inside about what I want to do while helping to extinguish my doubts.

I am over-the-moon that this forum exists for all of us and I hope to be a contributor for years to come.

I love white gardenias (but hate carnations, mushrooms, and tomatoes), love spearfishing, small boats, Macs, bourbon, video games, and littlenecks...all things I would give up to be able to read this message board. Oh geez...I think I have a problem...I blame all of you. Don't judge me.

Yep, that's why I'm an addict, and its like friends who have something in common and aren't out to *#/? each other over 😉 at least in the NT forum, the pre-allo is pretty... Ummm... Well its not appropriate.... Anyway, welcome to the club 😉

I'm ShyRem and I'm an SDN-aholic.

I'm such an SDN-aholic that
1) I remember when the conversations were going on when Q started the MCAT subforum.
2) My med school administration figured out who I was and started calling me ShyRem at school.
3) My iPod charges at my bedside. Before I even get out of bed in the morning I hit the TapaTalk app and check SDN to see if there's anything hugely fabulously interesting going on in my favorite threads. THEN I check email. Then I finally get my sorry butt out of bed for the day (or night as the case may be).
4) my husband knows some of my SDN friends and acquaintances because they come up in conversation so much.

Same. 😳 I do it before I put on my glasses, which means I have to uncross my eyes after putting them on. Bad habit...

So how do we have an SDN Non-trad get together!!! I'd totally like to meet my fellow NTs in person...

Well, I'll tell you one thing for sure: ain't gonna be no persuading my warmth-loving self to come visit you in MN in January. 😱

I'm not sure if they're still going on, but for a while at least, we had some regional SDN meet-ups happening. People would post the attendance info on SDN and anyone could go. I went to one and met several SDN folks. I'm sure if you want to set up your own meet-up, it would be easy enough to arrange to have it made "official."

I'd love MN in the wintertime. I think my temp gauge has seen -19 at one point in time and that's only because I drove up to northern WI to do an ice racing event. :meanie:

Q, I'd never do that to people... How about in Sept/Oct when the fall colors are good? Or Denver in May when it's green!!

-19? That's weak... try -40 no windchill... the handles inside my 1979 Toyota Corolla broke off, and the windshield cracked when I turned the heat on... Then there was the winter when Gov Carlson shut down ALL schools in the state, the only school that didn't comply was the UMN-Twin Cities... every other school was closed for 2 days I think because it was so cold... One of those times the city buses were dropping people off on their streets because it was too cold to walk more than a block.... good times... good times...

Pssssssh I've only been in the midwest for how many years?! 😛

I don't have a couch in my apartment because my snow tires are too precious and I have AWD. Bring it! 😳 😉 I might be from Cali but I ain't skurrrred!

The colder, the better for ice racing. I have not once decided to stay away from lab because of something as silly as the weather. 😛

HAH! That's fantastic!

Yeah, same here, but I have an ipad so I check that instead..

I'm also an SDN-aholic, I spend far too much time on these boards. I actually went to meet with an admissions advisor recently who suggested I peruse these forums, to which I responded "I already spend way too much time on there" and he laughed and said "good!".

What kind of ice racing do you do? I have several friends who do motorcycles on the ice, and less that do cars... Either way, my dad fell through the ice in front of me when I was 5, and I am still terrified of it... He kept telling me how the ice was safe, and SPLLLOOOSH... thankfully the water was shallow, but I'll never believe it's safe...
