WELCOME TO THE SDN FAIRGROUNDS!

1755302598127.jpeg

The gates swing open with a cheerful creak, and the warm afternoon air rolls in thick with the scent of buttered popcorn, sizzling corn dogs, and spun sugar. The distant, metallic clang of a bell signals a lucky winner at the ring toss, while somewhere nearby a calliope wheezes out a jaunty tune that floats over the fairgrounds.

The cotton candy vendor is already at work, twirling pink and blue clouds of sugar around paper sticks, handing them to eager children with sticky fingers and eyes wide with delight. Across the midway, the raffle organizer stands behind a bright red booth, cheerfully doling out numbered tickets and promising “the biggest prizes this side of the Ferris wheel.”

From the center of the fair, the ride operator calls over the crowd with a megaphone, announcing that the Tilt-A-Whirl is ready for its next load of thrill-seekers. The metallic groan of the machinery rises and falls with each spin, mingling with squeals of laughter from the passengers. The bumper cars are already sparking and buzzing under the lights, with drivers young and old grinning as they deliver gleeful collisions.

Down the food row, the lemonade stand owner pours ice-cold drinks into sweating paper cups, the tart citrus scent cutting through the heady perfume of funnel cakes frying in hot oil. The funnel cake vendor dusts a fresh batch with powdered sugar, sending a fine white cloud into the air that glitters briefly in the sunlight before drifting down to the wooden counter.

Somewhere near the livestock pens, the ferris wheel attendant is chatting amiably with the line of fairgoers, pointing up at the slowly turning wheel that offers a panoramic view of the grounds. Children dart between the legs of their parents, chasing balloons and the sound of the midway games; the distant bleat of a goat carries over the noise as a cool breeze stirs the scent of hay.

This year marks the first fair without old Mr. Harlan at the helm. After forty years of running the show, he finally hung up his straw hat and retired to a quiet little farmhouse on the edge of town. The midway feels a little different without his booming laugh echoing over the loudspeakers, but the show must go on.

Now, it’s up to the rest of the crew to choose a new leader, someone to keep the rides spinning, the booths bustling, and the crowds happy. The staff have agreed to settle it the fairest way they know how: a good old-fashioned vote.

As the sun dips a little lower and the lights along the Ferris wheel blink to life, conversations buzz between booths and food stands, each worker making their case for who should guide the fair through the season ahead.

Step right up — the fun’s just getting started.

WW Basics (Adapted from WW 101)

The game is divided into cycles. Each cycle is divided into a day and a night. During the day is when the players decide who they should "yeet" for that day. Villagers are trying to figure out who the wolves are (hence the name of the game WW=werewolf... by day they act like villagers, but by night they kill), and any other non-village entities that might pose a threat. The non-villagers are trying to look like they are doing the same, while actually acting towards their own win conditions. Each of you will cast a vote during the day sessions to yeet someone. When you cast a vote please put your vote in BOLD and use the term "vote" or "yeet", for example, yeet kaydubs. If you cannot use bold, put your vote in octothorpes, like so: ######yeet kaydubs######. You can change your vote from one person to another at any time before the vote is closed by writing unyeet kaydubs, yeet dubz. Whoever has the most votes against them will then be yoten. They will die (usually) and are removed from the game.

We then move to the night cycle. This is when the wolves pick who they are going to kill. Also, many villagers have roles that allow them to do things to help the villagers out. Please reply to your role conversation with your night actions if you have any. To make it easier for us to find your final action, please bold it and indicate the night like this:
N1
Mutilate dubz

There will be a writeup after each day session explaining what happened in the yeet and the role of the persons yoten, and also a writeup after the night session similarly. Sometimes these writeups can give you hints, sometimes they are just for fun, and sometimes they are designed to mislead you. That's part of the fun!

Rules for this game, READ CAREFULLY

Note that these rules must be followed. We will not hesitate to enact punishment for breaking them, up to and including "mod killing", where you are removed from the game.

The first and most important rule to supersede even a numbered list is that this is a GAME that is meant to be FUN. We understand that things can get heated and emotions can run high when we are accusing each other of murder, but there will be no tolerance for hostility, excessive appeals to emotion, or personal attacks on other players. If mods see that things are getting out of hand, we will ask the involved parties to take a break from the thread. It is much, much better if you can police yourselves and take breaks when you need them.

Now for everything else...

1. Do not discuss the game outside of this thread and your role (or mentor) PM unless you are specifically allowed to do so by the mods. There are no PMs in this game outside of ones set up by us. You should also avoid discussing game strategy with people in real life.

2. Once you are dead, you are not allowed to strategize on the thread. If you are going to post, you must post in asterisks
********
like this
********
Please limit the amount that you post, and limit content to fun comments or cheering for your team. Just as you should be careful with what you post after death, you should also be careful with what posts you like/react to. Use your best judgement, don't like posts with strategy in them. You would be surprised how what you say or like can sway players' thoughts, even if you think it is innocuous. So err on the side of caution. DO NOT DISCUSS THE GAME WITH LIVING PLAYERS.

3. Participate, participate, participate. I am not a mod who tolerates ghosting. We spent time building this game, and by signing up you committed to play it. Submit a vote and a night action (if you have one) every day. If you plan to not use your night action, please let us know so that we can start processing actions. Life does happen, so if things get busy let us know and send in contingency actions. To get notifications of posts in this thread, please click the "watch thread" button at the top. This will help you remember that the game is going on! If you get too busy to follow the game, please let us know privately and we will try to find someone to sub in for you.

4. This is a chance to practice your paraphrasing skills. Direct quoting or copy/pasting of ANY PMs, including those from the mods, is not allowed. Screenshots are not allowed. Fake copy/pasting, quoting, and screenshots are not allowed either.

5. You may edit posts in this game, but only for small things (clarifying wording/typos). Do not edit votes. Think before you post. Do not delete posts under any circumstances, unless instructed to do so by a mod.

6. Do not discuss or share your night results before the writeup is posted. However, you are free to continue to strategize between yeet close and writeup (unless I decide to lock the thread, which might happen).

7. This is not technically a rule...but it's tradition to change your avatar to something related to the theme of the game!

Rules for Mentors: Mentors (manators) are here to advise you of the mechanics of playing, and to discuss general strategy, but remember you are the ones who are playing. You will learn best from the mistakes you make over the course of this game. Do not ask your mentor to tell you exactly what to do. You will notice all mentor messages on the thread will be surrounded by emojis

:angelic::angelic::angelic::angelic::angelic::angelic::angelic::angelic::angelic::angelic:
like this
:vamp::vamp::vamp::vamp::vamp::vamp::vamp::vamp::vamp::vamp:

That is so you can pick out the mentor messages easily!

If you have questions, please ask either the mods or the mentors, or you can post a question on the thread and one of us will answer as appropriate.

Final rule: HAVE FUN!
And try to survive 😉

General Game Notes

Game Design: Closed Setup, Role Madness. This means there are a lot of abilities floating around, but the full mechanics of the game are only known to the mods!
Please note there is no "standard" game setup on this site. Almost anything you can think of is possible here. Things can seem extremely wacky until you have full context. Rest assured we have done our best to design this game to be winnable by any player.

Cycle Timing: 24 hour days, 24 hour nights. Day cycles will open at 9pm EDT and close at 9pm EDT the next day. Votes will not be counted once the SDN timestamp reads 9:00 (or 21:00 if you're fancy). Night actions are due at 8pm EDT during the night cycle to allow extra time for processing so the thread can open relatively on time. The thread will be OPEN for chatter during the night cycle but may be locked between cycle closes and writeup postings.

Eliminations: Plurality vote is in place. There will be no official majority vote at any point in this game, though if there is an overwhelming, unmoving wagon we may close early. Votes will never be locked in - feel free to unvote and vote again at your leisure. Mods will post official tallies as we are able but it will help you and us to keep track yourselves as well.

Special Events:
We have one or two special events planned to add a little extra fun to the game. Keep an eye out for these! They will be announced in thread and in the mod announcement PM.

WW Terminology

may be updated with suggestions - manators please offer suggestions in our chat if you have them, so we don't clog up the thread.

Bandwagon - A buildup of votes on one player, usually one that quickly reaches the majority of votes

Bus/Bussing - when a wolf backstabs another to gain the trust of the village

ISO - Short for "isolate", refers to when you search for a particular player's posts in the thread to read all of them at once. Often used to evaluate a single player at a time based on tone, or check for consistency in their posts.

Majority - How some votes in WW games operate - the vote closes as soon as someone has more than 50% of the total number of possible votes

Meta - Wolf meta. Village meta. Meta meta meta. This simply refers to various aspects of a player's playstyle, through time, in multiple games, and in different roles. You may not see it used as much in this game since many of you are new and do not yet have an established meta.

Mod Flair - refers to artistic/creative license taken by the mods in writeups and individual players results. It is common for players to attempt to determine whether a particular portion of these writings is relevant to the game or simply mods having fun.

NAI - Not Affiliation Indicative. Usually refers to some aspect of a player's play that does not point to whether they are wolf or village. It simply...is.

NK - night kill - a death that occurs at night in the game. Usually refers to the wolf factional kill but can refer to other deaths as well!

Parity - When wolf numbers equal village numbers. This is how wolves win the game.

Plurality - How most votes in SDN WW games operate - the person who has the most votes when the cycle closes "wins" (and their prize is death)

Pocket - something mysteriously missing from a lot of women's clothing. Also the act of getting another player to trust you, typically by some form of sneaky emotional manipulation

POE - "Pot of Evil" "Pool of Eels" or, if you're boring, Process of Elimination. The suspects that remain when you eliminate your village reads, cleared villagers, etc from the roster.

PR - "Power role" - most often refers to a village role that has an ability (so not vanilla). May also be used to refer to a wolf with an ability.

RNG - Random Number Generator. Refers to the randomization of any part of the game, whether that be role distribution, a random d1 vote, breaking of a tie to determine who gets yoten, or an ability being used on a random player.

Rojo - One of the great old ones, his name has now the common term used to describe the act of accidentally posting something on the thread that was meant for PM, usually when a wolf posts something that was meant for wolf chat.

Scum - a catchall for the informed minority, usually the murderous ones. Someone the village needs to eliminate.

Sheep (verb) - refers to when players echo or follow another player's ideas/reasoning or yeet vote. Usually has a negative connotation.

Sketchy - If you look up sketchy in the dictionary you will see pictures of many of our illustrious manators, along with this modator (depending on who you ask). Synonymous include wolfy, shady, suspect, suspicious, and highly yeetable.

Soft clear - When a player determines that, in their opinion, another player is not a wolf based on interactions, analysis, or whatever else and NOT through trustworthy mod-given information

Tinfoil - crackpot guesses and theories - something that may be posited by a player on thread just in case they are correct, but is often a little nutty.

Tot - Spectator --> Spectatortot --> Tatertot --> tot. These are the people observing the game from the outside, commenting in their own group chat with the mods.

Tunneling - player A continues to go after player B day after day, perhaps in spite of evidence that player B is village

Vanilla - a player with no special abilities. Can refer to a villager - sometimes called a vanillager - or a wolf, who in that case would have no abilities other than killing. Can also refer to a type of game where no special abilities exist.

VCA - Vote Count Analysis - a way of analyzing the game based on previous votes. The goal is to figure out who the wolves (and the villagers!) are based on the progression of previous days' votes.

Village(r) Code - A terrible way to determine someone's affiliation based on the style/format of their role PM, due to the assumption that wolf PMs will be formatted differently from villager PMs. Don't do it.

VoLo - Vote (correctly) or Lose. Also seen as "Yolo" (Yeet correctly or Lose). This is the point of no return for the village. If anything other than a wolf is voted out during VoLo, village loses the game. Other related terms include MyLo, which is the game state where a misyeet would lose the game for village but no death or the death of a third party would not, and Marvolo, which refers to Volo and Mylo together when there is some doubt about which stage the game is in. The latter MyLo or MarVolo may also be used when night actions could prevent the game from ending overnight, even if a villager is yoten during the day.

Waffle - A delicious breakfast food. Also, the act of switching your vote. If lots of votes are switching around the same time, especially towards the end of the day, we call that a wafflefest

Wagon
- simply refers to the collection of votes for a particular player, no matter how many votes there are or how quickly they were placed

WIFOM - Wine in Front of Me, taken from the poison scene in The Princess Bride. The circular reasoning that results from trying to determine the choices of someone who knows their actions would be analyzed. Probably overused.

It is now Day 1. Please elect your mayor.

Rather than voting to kill someone today, you will be voting for a player to lead your group to victory.
The mayor may receive something special for being elected.

The mayor election will close promptly at 9pm EDT tomorrow, 8/16/25.

hey everyone, i'm fruit, and I'm excited to play with y'all :hardy:

should we elect based on experience? idk if any of the brand new-bies would like to jump the gun and take on the mayor role. figured i'd ask before electing to be considerate :3

elect beans

i think for the sake of fairness and to start us off on the right foot, i'm going to go with beans. she seriously cornered me in the last game and did a fantastic job calling me out in the end, and this is her second game so she's still new

I have no idea what being mayor involves but my whole WW experience has been jumping in feet first so I’m fine with being considered! I’ll even come up with a pitch if people want.
oh you have piqued my interest 👀

that's what mgk(pookie ily imysm <3) and i did last round to help garner votes in our direction. great way to introduce yourself to the class too! memes +1 points c:

Aww thanks vampy!! I would be honored to be mayor.

I’m currently on the mobile site (my app hasn’t been working boooo) so no memes right now, but I promise I have a decent meme game

Hi everyone, I’m Nicole!! I’m completely new to this game so I don’t know what being mayor entails exactly, so I don’t know if I would be a good choice for that role lol. But I’m looking forward to getting to know you all! 🙂

I shall return with a proper mayoral pitch!
(I'm not sure I can figure out memes...but we will see)

Is there anyone who absolutely DOESN'T want to be mayor?
I would rather not 🙂 Going on vacation next weekend, so I'll play but probably won't be up for, ya know, leading a whole group of players. Plus if I got impeached I'd probably have to ban you and that would be awkward...

welcome! that's totally fair, i initially voted you out of randomness but the vibes here feel warm

oh spurs, now you make it sound tempting

part of me is hopeful for comayors (hopefully without getting digested this time :sorry:)

Greetings, fellow fairgoers - my name is beans, and I would be honored to serve as your new mayor!
I know times have been hard for us since Mr. Harlan retired and that our fair doesn't feel quite the same, but I believe that I can carry us into a new and prosperous...week or two!
I have exactly *checks notes* one game's worth of experience...which in the eyes of some may not be a lot...but, you know, sometimes new, young blood is what you need!
If you elect me mayor, I promise to hunt down anyone who threatens to disturb the peace (looking at you wolves), to attempt to figure out the art of memes, and to lower the price of funnel cakes and deep fried Oreos! We all know we're paying way too much for those...

this is compelling 🤔

Not sure if editing worked, so just to be safe:

### elect Rae ###
I missed initially and then I was like merrrr technically you edited a vote.

So, thank you. That works.

Also, feel free to tag the mods when you vote, it’s an almost surefire way to get my attention.
