Honestly, you can't beat it. This is the first time I've not owned a cat in my entire life and all my other cats were stray DSHs with the weirdest quirks and personalities lol. Knowing me I'll probably have a hard time saying no to any cat when I'm not renting anymore but it is a life goal to own at least one Oriental and Sphynx/Lykoi :soexcited:

Ugh your kitty makes me miss my old lady. She's somehow still alive but back with my parents. She was the rut and only weighed 5 lbs when she was healthy, now she's just over 4 lbs with muscle atrophy-- tiny lady!!! She doesn't honk but she squeaks!

walked that giant dog today, but since it was 97!!!!!! degrees out, we just went out to potty and headed back inside.

instead of playing, this 90lb giant poodle mix (thankfully not a doodle lol) decided my lap was the perfect spot to pop a squat. needless to say, he did not fit in my lap haha

hims is so good boy.

i took this booking without a meet and greet (which i never do bc if you dont meet some of these animals beforehand, you're screwed) but the owner was super insistent that he is very polite, very sweet and a gentle giant and was in a real pickle with being stuck at work late these next few days. so i yolo-ed it, and man. what a solid pup!
 
I know you said he's a mix, but I love poodles. If I ever got a dog a standard poodle would be up there. but every time I say that people go

It's not like they all have Addison's. I like standard poodles. They're generally good critters.

My Indy had Addison’s!!! She had like zero standard Frenchie problems but lots of rare stuff……

She was diagnosed with it over four years before her death and stayed well managed once we got into a pattern. It’s what initially got me interested in vet med.

Addison’s, Pheochromocytoma……Indy’s adrenal glands just really wanted to misbehave apparently……

Night 3: It's all fun and games...

The fairgrounds glowed beneath the lantern light, lively as ever. Rides clattered and whirred, the smell of fried sugar still drifting in the air long after the booths had closed for the night. Workers moved quietly among the shadows, some checking on their stalls, some whispering hurried conversations by the livestock pens, others passing small tokens or notes into waiting hands.

A few odd sights stood out in the dark: a booth shuttered more firmly than usual, a tent glowing faintly as if lit through the night, the flash of a vest passed off with a wink, and the strange impression that some lucky soul was getting more than their fair share of attention. Even the whisper of unseen voices seemed to stir through the grounds, trailing after one particular fairgoer like the creak of old wheels on an empty track. And somewhere in the midway, rumors spread of a quiet deal-maker, not a killer nor a savior, but someone handing out tickets for reasons no one could quite explain.

And yet, for all that, nothing broke the rhythm of the night. No crashes, no shouts, no sudden silences. Even the ducks seemed to have settled down. The midway carried on as though nothing had changed, the neon lights painting cheerful colors across the dark.

When the morning came, the workers gathered slowly in the pale light of dawn. They looked around, counting heads, waiting for that familiar pang of loss. But there was none.

No one has died.

How strange, to start a new day with a sense of hope instead of grief. Perhaps they would make the most of it. After all, there was a special announcement waiting for them that morning…

The sun peeks over the horizon on Day 4, and there's a new buzz in the air - the Fairgrounds Hosts are running a Creativity Contest! Inspired by the classic fair’s spirit of homemade wonders, you’re invited to dazzle the fair with your own creation.

How it works:
  • Submit anything creative - drawing, poem, song snippet, mini-craft, or a quirky fair-themed recipe.
  • Send your entry privately to the mods. That means your manators should not see your submissions either! Send it in a private message to myself and @kaydubs titled "Creativity Contest Submission" or something similar.
  • On Day 5, the top 3 favorites will be chosen and each will win a special carnival prize
Flex your imagination and surprise us with something that embodies the heart of the fair - whether it’s whimsical, crafty, or downright wacky.

May the most creative spirit win!

Deadline for submissions is the end of Night 4 - 8/23 at 8pm EDT.
