SDNFeedback

Student Doctor Network is looking for what our users would like to see in improvements on our site. With the monies from donations this year, SDN has been able to upgrade the servers and is currently in process of updating the database server. We are working to improve SDN and respond to what resources the majority of our users wish to utilize (and of course make SDN more stable so there is no more crashing!)

In response to user requests, this year SDN has already implemented these changes:

• revamped its forums with the addition and reorganization of various forums and sub-forums,
• added the SDN bookstore, SDN store, and upgraded donor privileges to raise money for SDN,
• updated interview feedback forum,
• as well as added more partners in order to serve our users and provide them with the latest and greatest information on various fields (Such as McGill Journal of Medicine, painrounds.com, eyeorbit.org, d aMD-MBA.org)
• and much, much more!

So we are now requesting what YOU, as the user, to provide us with feedback and suggestions on what you would like to have in terms upgrades of features and format changes. Our goal is to have people from all walks of life contribute to SDN and help us to create an invaluable resource for pre-professional health programs through graduate school, practice specialties and beyond.

live chats? interest groups/clubs? beefed up ignore functionality? maybe some kind of eProps feature, where users can get points for giving helpful advice. SDN dollars? also theres no incentive for referrals currently. there are lots of premeds/dollars out there who dont know about sdn and could be lured in, but theres little reason to spread the word

i think you guys should charge money for sdn and turn it into a profit machine. the place gets enough traffic/devotees to generate sizeable revenue. this is med business, i have to propose it. suggestion: give ppl a trial period to build up a reputation and get hooked, then slap on fees. if the person happens to befriend other posters, not shelling out X amount of fees and instead leaving will be hard to do. hey, it wouldve worked on me. and with that deluge of money youll never have to worry about server this search function that--things will run smooth as silk. sure ppl would be mad at first but they would fork over the cash and get over it, then it would become accepted. free trial, then fees--beautiful. or, X free number of posts. yearly fees, probably, but thats flexible.

i like the status symbols you give the donors, which is why i sport one (admittedly its the only reason i donated), but i dont think its a strong enough incentive to attract donation money. then again im not sure what your financial situation or goals are, or overall mission. the difference in functionality between donor vs non donor is just very small--i hardly noticed anything, but maybe ive forgotten. maybe no avatars at all for non donors? just looking for ways to maximize the bottom line, no personal biases or hatred.

if you want to stick with the nonprofit theme, you could take ppls money and put it into whatever cause. first of all use it to implement an AMCAS match. but it seems like theres so much potential money that isnt being capitalized on.
