Nah just send the check and if there's a form you're supposed to include, send that. The money goes straight to the cashier/registrar, so I see no point in formality.

You shouldn't have to send a letter. Most are forms.
But Cozmo, some require that you send a letter - NYU for example.

my acceptance letter said to include a letter "stating your intent to enroll" or something?? and to include the check and a technical standards form

just take whatever words they use exactly and then apply them to the context...

i.e. You must send a deposit and a letter and a stating your desire to have a position at XYZ medical school held for you.

->

Dear Dean So and So,

I hereby state that I desire to have a position at XYZ medical school held for me. Enclosed, please find a deposit check for $XXX.

Thank you,

Depakote

My acceptance letter said the same exact thing. I just wrote a short letter letting them know how thrilled I was and thanking them again, and of course writing my intent to enroll. Easy enough.

i made mine humorous. i can't imagine how bored the admissions secretaries must get reading those letters. i said something along the lines of "i intend to accept your invitation to enroll in ___ medical school, class of 2010. i appreciate your reciprocated interest in me and look forward to beginning a life long love affair with your institution and the city of new orleans"

Bah, thats just dumb!

that's like one of those fine-print tricks. I wonder how many students lose their spot from never sending in a letter.

I always send a quick note with a check. Something that says "enclosed please find a deposit check in the amount of $--- to hold my seat in the class of 2010 at __ Medical School. If you need further information, please let me know. I look forward to hearing more from you soon." Habit. I grew up in a place where a note was always appropriate and, in fact expected, with any mailing or delivery.
