Hi all, I'm planning on taking my first DAT, mid-November. Now all the schools received my app already and are asking for the application fees. My question is, should I bother sending those fees or just wait until I take my DAT? From what I heard, the adcoms don't even bother looking/reviewing apps anyway until they get the DAT score, right? What do you all think?

If you're positive you're going to go through with applying this cycle, I'd send in the fees now. Everything takes so long to process that you should try to get each step started as soon as possible. You don't want your app. to be held up after you finish your DAT because you're waiting for a check to be cashed. I'd say get it out of the way now.

If you're making your decision about applying based on your DAT score, I'd say wait, to save yourself the money if you're not happy with your score and end up applying next cycle.

Depends on what your reasoning is. If you're thinking you might not do well on the DAT and want to wait to until next cycle and save your $, then wait. But if you're serious about applying this cycle, then send everything the first chance you get. It only takes a week for schools to get your DAT scores, and if that's the only thing their waiting for they can start offering interviews right after that. Can't say for sure how long it takes them to process the fees once they actually get your check in their office (keep in mind, they have to enter it in the system, then actually take it to the back to deposit, and finally wait for it to clear).

Thanks mate, yeah, it all comes down to my DAT score, so I'll probably follow your advice...

I have a gut feeling I might not do well on the DAT :scared: But I really do want to get in this cycle! Thanks for the advice!
