Need advise on what I should do. I plan to continue taking classes this fall semester, I have a bachelors in biology already and neuroscience has always fascinated me,should I go after a second bachelors in neuroscience or apply to post bacc? What are my chances as Baylor is my #1 school.

I'm Hispanic, under 3.0 GPA and I come from and socioeconomic background

Hey. I guess I'll try to help since no-one has responded

A post-bac whether it is formal or informal is basically a bunch of upper division science classes that will hopefully improve your GPA and make you more competitive. I am sure you could grab an informal one at your school. Just add some difficult science classes. I would add one or two easy classes like sculpture or public speaking. You can say the sculpture class improves your artistic ability(PAT), and you can say public speaking helps you communicate with patients if they ask during an interview. So grab 3 upper division science classes and those two classes, and you should have full schedule for the semester. Do well and best of luck.

Do an informal post bac and say you're getting a 2nd bachelors. Then load up on the Neuroscience classes. If you do well and show you can handle a high load of upper level classes, you have a chance.

Apply to a 2nd degree program, even though you don't plan to finish it.

Several advantages:
-Cheaper tuition
-Priority in class
-Can apply for committee recommendation
-Can take as many classes as you want!

Personal experience 😉

If you cannot do the Baylor/school specific post bac, you are better off with an MS, assuming you can get in.

The under 3.0 may hurt his chance of getting into masters program. I am pretty sure 3.0 is the cut off for the majority of them. Plus he comes from a "socioeconomic background". So he may not have the cash to grab a 2nd masters. I would claim a second bachelors and look at federal loans, but doctoothache knows better than almost anyone else on this site. Honestly, I would take your DAT before you apply to these programs. If you have under a 3.0 then your gonna want a 20+ rockin DAT. I would say 22+, but since you're URM you have a certain advantage. Take your DAT first this because you really don't know what your chances are until then.

Thank you all for your responses. I'd like to mention currently working alongside a pediatric dentist as an assistant (absolutely love it!) and plan to take 12 hrs this fall semester, should I consider taking another class?

Take what you can and do well. Remember A's is gonna look better than A's, B's, and C's
