I applied the last cycle to all of my instate MD/DO programs in Arizona. I ended up getting one II from UA COM TUC but was rejected. I have since gotten active in a couple of community service areas and a clinic for the homeless. I plan on applying again this cycle to my in-state programs. I have been recently having reservations about going DO like a lot of people. I know my best bet to go MD would be an MCAT retake. Would it be fine to throw out another app this cycle and study for a MCAT retake to possibly be a third-time re-applicant? I personally believe I will get an acceptance to ATSU-SOMA this cycle, and I will take it if it happens. I re-wrote my personal statement and plan on editing secondaries.

cGPA 4.0 sGPA 4.0 (couple A- so more like 3.9)
MCAT 502 (I know I should've done much better on this test)

Anatomy and Physiology TA 304 hours
Hospital Volunteer (current) 152 hours
Food Bank (current) 80 hours
Free mobile clinic for the homeless (current) 36 hours
Boys and Girls Club (current) 20 hours
Research 110 hours
Shadowing (Psych) 144 hours

Are you only interested in applying to AZ schools ? if so, why ? It is not a good strategy to place all your hopes on one school-ATSU-SOMA.

With your current MCAT of 502 you are only competitive for ATSU-SOMA. It is not a problem if you are a reapplicant but if you want to stay in AZ your options are limited to ATSU-SOMA unless you can score 507 or higher on the MCAT. Post your new score here when available.

Yeah, I would prefer in state and wouldn’t feel comfortable going out of state. I would apply out of state in my third cycle when I retake the MCAT. My question is will new schools know how many times I reapplied or just know I’ve applied before? It is really a death sentence to be a reapplicant? I know people who have applied three or four times to the same school and got in. I will be starting a schedule to take the MCAT so I can have it for the 2021 cycle.

There is not a problem if you are a reapplicant. You will need a MCAT of 507 or higher to have reasonable chance at the AZ MD schools and AZCOM. Post your new score here in the future.
