Who should I ask, and how should I put it?

Im thinking e-mail to pd asking to take a look at the ED during a normal shift.

make sure you ask the PD so he knows how interested you are in the program. in fact, i'd try to go in on a shift that he was working on, so you can get to know him better, and see if your personality matches with his.
