Can everyone please clarify the point of second looks? In my understanding, these were primarily for the applicants who were uncertain and needed another look to determine their rank choices. I'm very clear on my rank list and was not planning on doing a second look. Just wanted to make sure this does not demonstrate lack of interest to my top choice.

Thanks

Congratulations on being a fairly rational person, it's a rare commodity this time of year.

You are correct. Second looks are for you and you alone.

I did them at 2 of my top 3 programs. One was to get to meet more research faculty (I did the ABIM research pathway), the other was because it was so different from my home program that I didn't really trust my first impression. In neither case did I meet with or even see anybody from the program administration and both were arranged by the program coordinator and chief residents.

Free parties, food, drinks. Some of my programs are holding second looks at pretty cool locations too. Some of my top picks are only 15 minutes away so I will probably go to their events to put in a little more face time and take advantage of the parties. I'm a boring medical student; I don't have anything better going on.
