Did you get the letter by snail-mail or email? What is your GPA like?
Hopefully you will get some interview invitations quite soon 🙂

Reject letter came snail. Gpa, 3.31

As far as my track record, yes I have been all over the place, but I know I want to go to dentalschool now.

To answer the previous poster.

18 AA, is definitely not what it used to be. I remember interviewing at some schools and the D4's were telling us how each incoming class was getting more and more competitive. When they all started, an 18 AA was considered respectable. I think that number has moved up to 19.

In any case, it is really easy to be discouraged, but if you want this bad enough you will do whatever it takes. Study hard and rock those DATs! Good luck!

Yes please do clarify if possible. Did you have an interview at NYU and then get rejected or just got plain old rejected??

When I joined this site in 2005, 18 AAs were everywhere left and right, and youd be hard pressed to find a 21 or 22. Now, it seems everyone on this site has a 21 or 22 and an 18AA only comes along once every month 🙁. Not sure if thats because the site has grown exponentially since then and more people are posting their stats, or the scores has really increased that much, but take that for what its worth.

if only you had applied half a decade earlier...

18AA def. not what it used to be...just like how a 680 on the GMAT isn't what it used to be... just like how a 30 on the MCAT isn't what it used to be. welcome to the recession folks.

In my opinion, I would retake the DAT. The 16 on the pat is really not looking good, and everyone is right about the 18AA not being competitive like it used to. And believe me, I am not biased! I took the dat once and got an 18AA, and I feel as though I am VERY fortunate to have gotten accepted with that score. And I was prepared to retake if need be....study hard, and you can do it! Be confident in your abilities and ROCK THAT TEST!!!

From your DAT, that 16 PAT seems like it would be a major factor into why you've been getting passed by. If you had 20+'s in all the other categories and a higher GPA, or a 20+ PAT with your current AA/TS, you'd probably get more consideration. A lot of schools pay major attention to that PAT score. It tests a unique (and important) skill set away from "academics." Let's be honest, a 16 is low in any category (schools generally let it slide for QR, thankfully).
