Hey guys,

This is my second time getting interviewed at USC. I got waitlisted last year and got their interview email on Friday. I heard last year that the interview structure for re-applicants is different and it is more of an personal interview than PBL. I was wondering if this is true.

Thanks

I had an interview there in October and it was still a PBL session. Before that they made you draw questions out of a box and you and to answer it in front of the group. They said that part wasn't being evaluated but the questions were too "interview-y" for it not to matter.

Pray that you get an easy question.

edit:
wait you asked about reapplicants... I remember there being a reapplicant in my group, he went through the same thing. They let him skip the tour at the end though.

yeah, when i interviewed we had the tour, lunch and pbl session. i remember someone in my group answered a question and mentioned that this was his second interview with usc. so i don't think there's a difference, but not entirely sure.

i interviewed in 2008 cycle and this year. it was pretty much the same. the only thing they changed was what someone posted earlier. they passed a basket around with interview-like questions.

if you are a re-applicant, they do not have any 'personalized' question time. at least not when i interviewed. you're in the same group with other applicants in the mock pbl trial.

hope this helps.

PBL means problem based learning

I was accepted this year to USC but I'm going elsewhere due to finances. THe interview process left me SO impressed by the school, as you know from last year. You have a little presentation about the school, you get split up in groups and go into a room where you do some icebreakers/questions you draw from a hat and answer. Everyone is so nice and sweet on the stafff!!!! Then you do an example of a case and you guys all chatter and talk about it. The KEY thing is to NOT overpower like some ******ed people desperately trying to stand out. Just appear intelligent and suggest some possible ideas for the case. Don't go out of your way to trample other people and their suggestions. Those types of people don't get in. Then you do a cute little box lunch and talk with some students! I loved this school and I wish i could be able to afford it and living in downtown LA. BUT I'm super thrilled for my adventure at NOVA and being close to the warm beach!! Go dents! Good luck at your interview!!!
