Hi everyone,

I did my Masters in Neuropsychology overseas. When I moved to USA I decided to switch career and become a dentist. I went back to college to catch up with prereqs. I had 0 background in the sciences whatsoever since we didn't take any science courses during my curriculum.
Well, I applied to 15 schools in the last cycle. You can see my data on predents.com (http://predents.com/?page=user&user_id=9137).
I put so much money and effort in this process and didn't even get a single interview. This along with some personal issues pushed me into a severe depression. So I took a semester off to recover and retook the DAT. As you can pick from my data on predents.com I bombed the RC section but did ok in the other sections. I would hate to take the DAT for a third time specially since I know that I can't score high on the RC section. English is my third language and I did a lot of practice for my second attempt.
To my misfortunate adds that I have only taken one Upper level science course and got a 2.5 in it. I know this is a big red alarm on my application, so my plan is to take a bunch of upper level science courses during summer and fall semester.
The problem is schools don't tell me specifically what to work on. Some say I applied late (my second DAT was taken in Nov,so most schools reviewed my application with my first DAT score which was a AA18 TS17 RC17). Others, say it was that I didn't have enough Upper Level Science Courses. When I asked them if I should retake the DAT they weren't sure and they said its up to me.
How do u guys think are my chances for this cycle? And what would u do to maximize ur chance? I don't have the money to apply to 15 schools again so I will have to apply to 5 schools max.

Thank you all for your advice.

retake DAT is a must, get atleast a 17 in RC ( meets some school cutoffs).

You were granted 0 interviews applying to 15 schools. Applying to only 5 schools, with pretty much the same package will not help you. Even your improved DAT score won't make up for that.
I would hold back from applying altogether, focus on those upper level sciences, most likely retake the DAT, and apply next year. Might do you some good to clear your head, too.

Best of luck.

While you might not want to take this advice, you should. It will make you a much more competitive applicant.
