Hey Everyone. Next week, to help make a final decision, I will be re-visiting two schools. I was wondering what you all thought would be appropriate attire for a second visit. Do you think I need to wear a suit again, or would dress/causal be fine? Thanks for the help!

I disagree. Wear a suit, take on every opportunity you can to impress them. If you ever have any doubts, it's always better to over-dress than under-dress.

You've already been admitted. They aren't going to take away your acceptance because you aren't dressed in a suit. I would dress business casual.

You definitely do not have to wear a suit. Wear what everyone else will be wearing, business casual. Slacks and a button down or tucked in polo should be fine.

Thanks for the input. I was planning on a button down and khakis since Im already in.

Did these schools offer you the chance for a second visit with your acceptance letter or did you arrange the trip yourself? I'm trying to decide between two schools and wasn't aware that a second visit was an option.

After I got accepted, I narrowed it down to two places and still couldn't decide. I just emailed both schools and asked if it would be ok if I took a second look. Both places seemed excited that I wanted to re-visit.

Do the schools have a formal scheduled 'second look' day, or is it upon yourself to take your own tour, arrange to talk to students on your own, etc.?

All I had to do was ask to take a second tour. The schools took care of everything else.

The minimum I would do is business professional. If you run into the Dean, they will be wearing a suit. Dress to impress. Being over dressed isn't as bad as being under-dressed. The "I'm in" attitude isn't the best. You're soon to be a professional..

DrReo, I'm sorry if the "I'm in" comment sounded cocky or conceded. That was not the intention at all. I actually do not have my suit with me at school, and that was the main reason that I posed the question. I am very excited at the chance to attend dental school and enter the profession, and take that commitment to professionalism very seriously. Again, I apologize if my previous comments seemed out of order.

Lol It's not a big deal. You are already accepted and you already impressed them. Now it's their turn to impress you. Who cares what you are wearing? Just wear business casual.

I second PreDental88's suggestion.

I disagree. Wear a suit, take on every opportunity you can to impress them. If you ever have any doubts, it's always better to over-dress than under-dress.

While you have already been admitted, you are still under consideration for scholarships and grants. You want to stand out in the minds of people at the dental schools that you are re-visiting. One of the people that you talk to may be on the scholarship committee. Why dilute their impression of you with anything less than looking professional?

Business causal may be more comfortable, but you only need to wear the suit and tie for a few hours. If you are clearly overdressed, you can always take off your suit coat while you are there.

You worked hard to earn a good GPA, you studied hard to do well on the DAT, you sweated bullets to get invited for an interview and to get an admittance offer. Now is not the time to slack off.

I think it depends on how formal the schools are. Walking the halls in a suit at UW would definitely make you stand out. The Pacific NW is pretty casual.
Perhaps the Ivy League schools would prefer you in a suit? I don't know.
