I finally got an email from Mayo saying that my application fee had been recieved and they will start reviewing my application...

Not really a secondary, but hey, they want $75 before they will even look at your primary app.

Then I guess they schedule a phone secondary.

so I recieved the UNC screened secondary and was very happy. Then i read this:

"Between June and January we will review your application materials with those of other applicants and we will email supplemental application materials to those students who will be offered an interview. Because the majority of each class must be filled by North Carolina residents, the criterion for supplemental applications is more competitive for out-of-state applicants. As stated above, all applicants who receive supplemental applications will be invited for interviews"

and I began to rejoice.

I'm surprised UT hasn't sent you a secondary. Your stats are higher than their averages and you're from a state which borders TN (a requirement for OOS). I guess they screen OOSers hard!

I've been told by students there that OOSers shouldn't go there, if they get into one of their state schools.

I didn't add it until 7/20 or 21, but I got an email notice on 7/21 telling me that they had my application and were reviewing it. I just sent them an email asking how long it takes for a preliminary screen.

I didn't work during the fall/spring semesters, but I worked full-time during summers - how should I fill that info in, or should I just leave it blank? Does 'Academic year' include summers?

no an "academic year" is nine months from august/september to may/june.

Thanks, guys. It feels good to be wanted, that's for sure. I was escorted out of a huge office building today (along with others in the same group)...so that was really, really strange. But things are going to work out. This is not the worst thing that's ever happened to me. 🙂

Interesting since the initial email from them said that they send the secondary to qualified OOS students and then will choose from that who to interview. They made it clear that this was different from the In-State applicants who get the secondary/interview at the same time.

Have you tried scheduling it yet? I'd like to know which one is correct.
