Good morning kids, glad to see we all got NYMC today. 🙂
 
I was wondering if you could post the due dates for the secondaries as I have heard some may be due less than a month from arrival and with taking the august MCAT this is causing me to wait to submit AMCAS. I heard some places like rush expect the secondary completed and returned in 3 weeks

Hey there.
While I think this is a great suggestion, the original purpose of this thread was to keep people in all stages of application abreast of what secondaries were already available...
I think that secondaries that expire (like Rush) are contingent on when you first logged in, and as such, would be highly individual. A good rule of thumb for completing secondaries is two weeks. I give myself one week because for me, two weeks would cause major procrastination! 😉
The different schools have deadlines for when is the very latest they will accept all of your materials, and this date can be found in the '07-'08 MSAR. It is usually Oct-Nov-Dec-Jan. :luck:

Wow I am surprised Penn isn't requiring any essays for their secondary. According to the list it seems like most still require them. Hopefully everyone is finding them to be smooth in going. Are those you have above the only schools with no essays required for their secondary or is it just people happen to report no essay for those?

I totally submitted that application in less than 2 minutes.
 
i wonder who makes the most money out of secondary essays. GWU easily rakes in the most applications, BU then followed by NYMC. GWU (im looking at 06-07 MSAR) with 9427 applications and 105 bucks per secondary roughly pulls in a million bucks. woo wee

How long does it take Wake to send out the secondary? I've been past the screen since yesterday morning so I thought I would get it yesterday afternoon but I still haven't gotten anything.

they have the optional "additional info" box. also, look at their LOR requirements, because if you don't meet them, you are supposed to explain why and what you are sending in the additional info box
 
Just got the secondary from Brown...assuming that they do not screen...can anyone confirm. (PS email first andsays will send also via snail mail)

Does that mean that they'll screen and if they want an interview then they'll charge you the secondary fee? I think Indiana does this but MCOW doesn't and makes you pay the secondary fee first.
 
I have a legit question. I have many secondaries completed or near completed. The reason I'm holding them back is because I can't send out my committee letter until August 16th. Also, I'm not verified by AMCAS (yet). Should I send in these secondaries?

I would send them in unless they specifically say otherwise. I just got two interviews without my committee letter.
 
Hey yall, Yolony has just told me that he has received e-mail invite from Upstate to fill out their secondary? Has anyone else received this?
 
Hi, this is my first message and im not sure how this works....but does anyone have any idea if the other UCs (UCLA, UCSF, UCI, UCD) prescreen for the secondaries? Thanks!

Yes, they most certainly do. They tend to have status checks and one of the checks is something like "Approved for secondary." But I appreciate schools that screen in a way -- I feel like they're not just trying to take my money!

COLUMBIA INFORMATION:

Hey kids, for everyone applying to Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons--
I called in yesterday to find out what they had in my files...turns out they haven't started working on files quite yet. The woman on the phone said the ad com doesn't even come in until mid-end August, so the files aren't even made yet. They are still organizing this year's call.

She said we would all receive an email detailing what they had in our file and what they still needed. :luck:
 
Quick question fellow nervous wrecks, has anyone gotten through to Rush by calling or emailing them. I cant get a hold of anyone🙂
 
I sent Rush an email a week ago and nothing. It is okay though b/c the situation has remedied itself. 🙂

For the next posting of the list...can you take the ** out from in front of University of Rochester? I put that there to indicate that I added URoch with my update but it's still on the list after more updates...
 
So i see that it says Loyola is a screener...how much of a screener is it cause I just got my secondary to do...just wondering if anyone knew how tough of a screening process there was.
