Has anyone heard anything from University of Missouri? I know they screen, but it would be nice if they would at least let you know they received your AMCAS application.

In regards to the UNC secondary invite for OOSers, my email didn't say anything about guaranteeing an interview for those who receive a secondary. Anyone care to post up the email that they received (for OOS)? Mine follows:

Thanks.

I'm OOS and had the same email- on the instructions it states that when they acknowledge receipt of your supplemental via email they will call you to schedule an interview. i might be reading too much into that but if there was another screening process after the supplemental for an interview, i would have thought they would have mentioned something (ie after receipt of your supplemental we will review OOS applicants to grant an interview).

I know it was up for viewing on their website but I just got an email inviting me to fill-out the secondary.

yeah I got the secondary invite yesterday (email)....it's really easy!!!! thank god

I got BU yesterday also. It's cake.

Am I the only one that can't log in to the BU application? How am I supposed to set up a password when it says my email is already taken? HELP!!!!

Speaking of BU?

I did not apply to them, but I received an invitation to apply.
I am not sure what this means. That has never happened before.

I also received invitations to apply to EVMS, NYU and Creighton.

I didn't designate any of these schools on my AMCAS.

I am not sure how to interpret this. I don't want to give away my
money in secondary fees just to get REJECTED.

Any thoughts? 😳

ahh this feels good 🙂

Dear M.D. Program Applicant:

We have received all the necessary credentials including letters of recommendation in order for your application to be reviewed. As you can imagine, the review process is a time consuming and lengthy process. While the committee does its best to review applications in a timely manner, please be aware that it may be a while until you hear from us again. We greatly appreciate your patience during the application process.

We look forward to reviewing your application and thank you for your interest in GW!

I still have haven't received the second email: I got the same response from this morning that I did last week..

Our application team has encountered some last-minute problems in the final stages of testing of the Application and has not yet sent out all emails regarding account activation. To the best of my knowledge, all of these emails should be going out sometime this week.

Thank you for your patience.

I don't have anything to back me up on this, but if I had to guess, KU would screen out-of-state applicants, and grant access to the secondary for all in-state applicants.

Either way, nice job--now you have something to keep you busy for a little while.

Yeah, it has been pretty quiet lately, they were coming pretty steady. Almost done though!
I am an OOS, right next door to Kansas

So Idaho isn't your place of permanent residency?

EDIT: As an aside, I think the story behind Idaho's name is hilarious. You can look up the details if you'd like, but the summary is that some white guy standing before Congress made up a word, claimed it was a real word in the language of the local Native Americans, and Congress bought it and adopted it as the name of the state.

YAY! I'm hoping to get one of those soon. I got an email that they recieved my app, and if I sent out my LOR's, then they just haven't been put with my file yet. I sent out the LORs a while ago, so I assume they're there..

Dear Rosalind Franklin-

Why does your essay suck so much.

Thanks.

  That is great! I had never heard that.  Good ol' Idaho
I am originally from Colorado(where I claim residency), just up at school in Idaho for some reason.

If you are a minority and took the MCAT in April, there is a registry where schools who are attempting to improve their level of diversity will contact you. It's called Minority Applicant Registry (there's more info on the aamc site).
If you are not a minority, I have no idea - but feel blessed that you are in demand ! 😀

I was getting impatient, so I called Duke this morning and asked when the secondaries were coming out. They said August 15th. Boo to waiting.

I haven't seen anything posted about it in awhile, so I was wondering if anyone else had received an e-mail from them about passing screening and getting the secondary by snail mail. I'm just frigging excited about getting my first screened secondary!

WooHooo! braluk that must feel good. I'm starting to stress out seeing all of the invites peeps are getting for GW.

I just got of the phone with GW asking how my LOR's were comming.. the lady told me they have already recieved about 6,000 applicants!! 😱 :scared:

I don't know if that is primary only or what.. but ouch.. I feel like such a little fish :scared:

Has anyone not heard from UNC yet? I got verified on 7/21 and have not received a secondary yet. Just worried.

especially since the Duke secondary is supposedly one of the hardest ones to fill out. fortunately, they are nonrolling.

kick back and have a beer my friend, UNC is a screener and if you're in state a secondary=an interview. A few people have gotten secondaries, but i'm sure most haven't, i was verified 6/19, and i haven't gotten one yet, but then again i'm OOS.

shantster said:
Interesting since the initial email from them said that they send the secondary to qualified OOS students and then will choose from that who to interview. They made it clear that this was different from the In-State applicants who get the secondary/interview at the same time.

Have you tried scheduling it yet? I'd like to know which one is correct.

this seems pretty cut and dry to me, how much more clear could they be?

just called and asked, and the moral of the story is to believe the medschool's website and not SDN: all applicants who recieve a secondary are interviewed.

Oooooo I wonder if OHSU will be there when I get home... hm.... except our city has a slow post office (like slower that the cities next door) - painfully slow.... oh well...

For me, what's left is OHSU, Stanford, and UCLA-Drew

Well the indiana letter was a rejection. Look out you OOS people, here they come.

hope OHSU is waiting for me at home as well. i am about 7 hours away, the mail shouldn't take THAT long. 😀

If I got it in D.C. then you should be able to get it in CO. I suppose it also might depend on when your AMCAS was verified though.

Well, I got the Indiana letter about a week ago. Then I checked my mail two days ago and got a second rejection letter from Indiana, guess they really wanted to make sure I knew.

I received an email on 7/26 acknowledging the receipt of my verified AMCAS application (and my online status showed this), but that was all before the secondary invite email.

does anyone know how the oregon process works?? I'm guessing they look over residents first...and does it screen? (I'm from out of state)

Loma Linda's application sucks. This is the last one to be completed.

I emailed Drexel's admissions office to no avail with a question.

Anyone know if we can send in our LORs before receiving a secondary to them? And if so, what is the address.

It's my last school and I'm getting ansy to get all of the LORs out. 😀

Heyyy I finally made it through the screen at UCSD. Time to write an autobiography, I suppose.

They do screen, but I am out out-of-state and I got their secondary today so I don't think at this stage that they are showing any preference.

I do know that they strongly prefer Oregon residents, but do consider qualified OOS applicants who have significant ties to Oregon/strong reason to apply to that school.

Outside of filling their class with as many qualified Oregon residents as they can, I don't think their process for reviewing OOS applicants is any different.
