Secondaries? When to expect them?

Hi guys, my application was sent August 11, and was wondering if I should be expecting secondaries from the schools soon. Have you gotten secondaries yet? I haven't taken my DAT yet, perhaps that's why I haven't heard anything. I remember reading a post saying that some schools emailed you as soon as you hit that aadsas submit button, but my memory could totally failed me.

Welcome to the waiting game!!! 🙂 By "my application was sent August 11" I don't know if you mean you submitted it online to aadsas on the 11th or aadsas mailed it out to schools on the 11th, although I'm thinking you meant the prior. Schools will not send secondaries or postcard notices hitting you up for more money and a photograph until they have physically received your application from AADSAS in the mail. So no, no schools I know of send e-mails as soon as you hit the aadsas "submit" button. I submitted my aadsas on may 19, it was sent to schools on july 8 (since my transcripts and lors were sent a little later) and I have just been sending off secondaries for about a week and a half now. UOP, UCSF, Marquette, Case, Creighton, Michigan and OSU so far. State schools actually have real secondaries. Their essays are really a pain in the butt to write. The BS has been flying out of my keyboard the last couple of days--well, sort of.

Thank you Gulch! My AADSAS application was actually sent to the schools August 11. =) I guess now I just have to wait! I was afraid that the fact that I haven't taken my DAT would delay my secondaries, but I hope it wont. Thanks so much! 🙂

I was in the admissions office of Penn the other day and already they had a sizeable pile of applications, which means most other dental schools do as well. This means that it will take a couple of weeks, if not more, for them to go through the various files and contact those applicants that they are interested in. Some dental schools also don't begin their application process until after the incoming students have gone through orientation and what not so this will add even more time to the wait. With that said I would look for you to get some secondary requests in a couple of weeks, but expect them to trickle in versus coming all at once.
