So, apparently stony brook and columbia has their secondaries up, as seen in the 2010-2011 school specific thread.

Now, I was under the impression you had to be invited to complete a secondary 😕.

What's the deal here?

Everyone gets Columbia secondary. Atleast that what I heard

I recall a post last year by someone who attempted to submit a Secondary prematurely, and they got an email 'yelling' at them that, ~"Contrary to what may have been posted on a popular med school application support site, it is not acceptable to submit the Secondary application without invitation." I don't know that this is universally true, but it makes one think twice about it. The Pre-Med Allo School Specific threads from last year might give last year's applicants' experience in this regard.

Yikes! 😱

Yes, and that's how it is with the vast majority of schools.

Some people may have been invited already; your invitation is probably on its way, assuming your application is complete. Those secondary essays are pretty long, so you can start working on them now even though you can't submit yet.

how would people be invited before june 25th? an early decision program?

If I understand correctly, the schools will get some sort of notification prior to June 25 that you've submitted an application to them, but they don't actually get your entire application until AMCAS releases them. So for schools that don't screen, they can start sending them out as soon as you submit your application.
