Hi everyone!

I am starting a project looking at the relation between risk-taking behavior, depression, and suicidal ideation or behavior and I am hoping to find a good database that is hopefully either available to the public (i.e. free, I know I may still have to apply to use the database) or may be available to a strapping young graduate student at a large university. Does anyone have any suggestions of databases I should look into? I am very new to secondary data analysis so I am not sure where to start. Thank you so much!

Thank you Ollie, I hadn't seen that one yet! Any other thoughts? I am working on the NVDRS but I am open to other options as well!

PsycINFO, hands down.

For full access, will probably need to go through your university.

Wrong kind of database, though it is a very handy one. I need one with actual participant data so that I can run analyses on the variables listed as a pilot study for further exploration (and also because risk-taking is hard to measure in an experiment).

Check out the NESARC. It's the largest psychiatric epi study that has been conducted in the US so far. Don't worry that it was funded by NIAAA - they have tons of data on other Axis I conditions and related features. And given your interest in risk-taking behaviors, I imagine that there might be some good stuff in there.
