For secondary questions that ask about a most meaningful activity, or significant exposure to clinical medicine, or satisfying experience with community service--what do we do if there's a lot of overlap with what we said on our personal statement and/or most meaningful activity section?

Should we just talk about the same activity again (but not have it be an identical rehash) or try to pick another one (if there is another one..)? I know people have brought up how repetitive secondaries can be, I'm just wondering how much repetition is okay. I of course don't want to repeat myself, but find that what I wrote for the other sections is truly what was most meaningful to me so it's hard to pick another one (or I don't have another one to pick from).

Thanks!

Yeah, those things are bs. I just reword my application or add some element that is school specific if possible.

So just adapt the same experience/anecdote to what the school wants? How do you usually add an element that is school specific?

I've heard two conflicting rules for this:

1) You don't want to repeat things in your secondaries. It's frowned upon.

2) Secondaries are for filling in "gaps" in your application. If you repeat things, it shows you didn't have a gap.

I honestly don't know what the right answer is. 🙁
