I'm working on the CCOM secondary, the question being how would CCOM provide you with the type of osteopathic education you are seeking.

Having never visited the school, what would you guys say are things that could set this school apart from others. I looked on the website at the curriculum and that sort of thing, but i was just wondering if anyone knows some info about CCOM that might help me out.

I was about to post the same question!

That question is just another way to ask "Why CCOM"?

even if that is the question then answer it....why ccom

A few standard things you could mention:
1) large city environment
2) older school (100 yrs +)
3) ass-kicking testing schedule
4) great match list ...yadda yadda

Yeah it's generic 🙁 Hope it helps though!

what's their test schedule like?

I was snooping around the CCOM class of 2009 thread, and various other CCOM threads. The gist of what I got was something on the order of 65 exams in 33 weeks for first year, not including quizzes.

I suppose you might be able to search on here and the osteopathic forums for CCOM exam schedule and see what hits you get

EDIT: here's one for instance:

is this supposed to be a good thing?

It's whatever you make it out to be 🙂

I personally like more exams. It keeps you on your toes. Also, if you bomb one test, it's not _as_ bad since it's more spread out.

I can certainly see great potential for burn out, but for my secondary essay, I see it as a good thing.

almost all schools ask this question. Well, the best way I have found to answer it is with technology, clinicals, curriculum and area. I mean what med school doesnt have cutting edge technology these days. Basically all of them so this is a nice generic way, but you will need to look on their website for special things in this area that stand out. It shouldnt be too hard because many of them brag about this. Secondly, clinicals are very important to me because the more affiliated places and amount of time available will provide a broader diverse experience. Curriculum is soooo important, on this I would just provide things like how long the classes run, the course load, and clinicals in the first two years etc. Area is also important to me, even though I have not visited any of the out of state schools, I know what type of area I want to live in. Anyways, I usually pick two of these things and elaborate. The question seems hard at first but when you break it down its really not that bad. 🙂
