I was reading one the wrong answer choices in Uworld and it states for secondary hyperparathyroidism that there would be an INCREASE in PTH, DECREASE in VIT D and INCREASE in CALCITONIN.

Upon looking at the explanation for why there is an INCREASE in Calcitonin, it states 'Despite the relative hypocalcemia of renal failure, levels of calcitonin are increased because the excretion of calcitonin is impaired'

Can someone explain to me why this occurs?

Thanks!!
