Hi everyone,

I'm not sure what the correct way to go about this is so I wanted to get some opinions here.
In my secondaries, I wrote about a program I am taking part in during gap year that starts in the next month. In the program, they match you with a nonprofit to work with. Long story short, I had matched with one nonprofit and had written about it in just about every secondary, but just found out that that things have been switched around due to COVID, and I am now with a different non-profit. I feel like it's a pretty important part of my app (I didn't write about it in my primary because I did not know if I had the job yet) so I am trying to figure out the best way to update/fix this.

Should I send an update in to each med school explaining the situation and the new non-profit I will be working with? Is it too early to send an update? Let me know your thoughts, I just am not sure the best way to go about this.

Thank you so much!

It was for the question that asks about our gap year plans - I wrote about a program I am starting (which I still am doing) that I will be participating in for the next year. I wrote a blurb about the specifics of the non-profit I would be working at (which has now changed to another non-profit). My question is how/when do I let them know that I was moved to this new job due to COVID. My new job is remote and my old one was not, that's why they moved me.

Adcoms have advised in the past that future plans (and the hours associated therewith) receive a lot less weight on an application than other elements due to the fact that things change. As you are experiencing first hand, this is even more true during a pandemic. If it were me, I wouldn't worry about it unless and until I was being interviewed. At that point I'd mention the change for the sake of full disclosure and accuracy. The basic idea of the activity hasn't changed, just the specifics due to COVID. It doesn't seem worth an update to me.
